Gustaf ❤️

You’ve probably seen this good boy on my stories quite a bit, as we’ve been fostering him for for a while now! Gustaf is a young, high energy, guy who is one of the most loyal and well behaved dogs I’ve ever met. He’s been camping, road tripping, to pack walks, group classes, patios, and pretty much everywhere else you can think of! He gives everything 110%, and tries SO HARD to make his people happy in any situation. He loves ball, hiking/walks, and just being with you. He’s good with cats, dogs, and people but does need a slow introduction to new dogs and people! As his confidence grows, he needs less and less help to be successful with strangers. He has solid obedience and has all the skills needed to be successful in a dedicated home. He does have some separation anxiety, but has made big strides with this since we have had him! Think you would be a good fit for Goosey man? I’d love to chat with you about him! He comes with five free lessons to help him settle into his new home- this quirky boy is the best and we can’t wait to see him flourish in his forever!

ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT TRAINING WITH US? THIS POST IS FOR YOU!

I’d love to get a post going for potential clients to look at with updated real information from my past and current clients to help them decide if my programs would be a good fit for them! I know there are review sections all over the place, but I want this to be more interactive so that people who are thinking about training can ask questions that are relevant to them, and you guys can answer them based off your experiences! Dog training is such a personal experience for everyone, and this will be so helpful to people who are looking for a trainer for their pups.

Update: we have had a booking for this September spot! I do still have space for one dog from August 22-September 3rd for anyone who was interested in doing a shorter program (hybrid program or adding on to existing skills)! Otherwise I am now booking for specific dates in October!

We just had a board and train spot open up for the beginning of September! As September had previously been booked for months, we are now actively trying to fill this spot. I will be offering 10% off a 2 or 3 week board and train program between August 22 and September 12th ONLY. We never do sales, so be sure to take advantage of this if you have been thinking about doing a board and train!

Some updates/reminders!

We are going camping this week with our dogs, so apologies in advance for any delayed responses on my end! We are now booking October for board and train programs, and I am accepting new lesson clients typically 1-2 weeks out currently! Group training opportunities for August will start after we get back from our trip (August 17th, August 21st, August 25). If you want to participate one of these dates shoot me a message, I’ll be picking a time and location based on everyone’s availability, so let me know what times you want to do and what sort of things you’re hoping to work on! These are $5 a team, and are open to both clients and non-clients! The you aren’t sure if you dog is ready or not, give me a shout and we’ll talk about it!

All skill levels and behavioral issues welcome as long as you have a training plan to work through things- if you aren’t sure if your dog is ready shoot me a message so we can chat! We will be going to a brewery after if anyone wants to join in and work on their dog’s patio skills!

Let’s talk about one of my all time favorite commands- the place command!

What is a place command? It’s a command where your dog gets on a bed/other object and stays until released.

Now what are the applications/benefits? Management is a big one- having trouble settling in the house? Place command. Too excited when people come over? Place command. Having trouble with other dogs in the house? Place command. Under your feet? Place command. Chasing the cat? Place command. Now keep in mind this is a MANAGEMENT option at this point. Another training plan to fix the issues along with the management is crucial to address the actual behavior and state of mind. Obedience is NOT behavior modification, but can be used as a tool to help with your behavior modification.

Place can also be used to help teach an off switch, teach a dog how to manage and toggle between arousal levels, work on impulse control, confidence building, and so much more! The applications are truly endless along with other good training to set your dog up for success 🙌🏻
