Sowing the Seeds of Tomorrow at Re:Vision:

We’re so proud of all of the children in our community learning and participating in our youth education programs. With curriculums designed specifically for Southwest Denver’s Latino youth to build awareness and access to healthy food, mental health and local economy, we dive deep into topics of food justice, nutrition, and life skills.

We love to watch our semillas grow, and thanks to funding from the Colorado Health Foundation and Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids , we were able to extend our youth education summer programs into a year-round afterschool program!

We are so excited to announce our bid with Denver Parks and Recreation to convert an underutilized lot in the Villa Park neighborhood was approved and we will be opening a new urban farm at Osceola Park!

We are so thankful for our partnerships with the Office of Councilwoman Jamie Torres , Denver Health , and the Villa Park Neighborhood Association for making this possible. We look forward to working with more residents of Southwest Denver with our mission to work with communities historically impacted by social inequities to develop resident leaders, cultivate community food systems, and create an economy owned by the community. This expansion will activate an under-utilized lot owned by Denver Parks and Rec and convert the space into an urban farm with family gardens with the capacity to grow an additional 2,500 pounds of food for residents of Southwest Denver. Produce harvested on this lot will be distributed to residents by CSA food boxes distributed at the Denver Community Health Centers and to Villa Park community members in partnership with Villa Park Neighborhood Association.

We will continue to post updates on the new urban farms’ transformation. We appreciate all your support!

Our team had an impromptu carne asada this past weekend to visit with one of Re:Vision’s founders, Joseph Teipel. And what better place than at our new farm, Granja Soberanía. We’ve come a long way as an organization from those first 7 family gardens but our work in SW Denver stays the same - creating our own food and economic systems by growing our own food, creating local jobs for our community, and training the next generation of farmers and leaders along the way. 🌽

We're sowing seeds in our family gardens and in the Re:Vision team!

Mirian Araiza, our awesome Promotora Manager, is leading the training of four new promotoras who just joined our team. Mirian is guiding them through our urban agriculture curriculum and preparing them to lead their own group of family gardens this season.

Just as planting a seed and nurturing it with care and love allows it to sprout and grow, the Re:Vision team hires and trains Latina neighborhood leaders as promotoras who then pass on their knowledge and provide support to Southwest Denver families who are experiencing food insecurity.

Later, Latina leaders from those families have the opportunity to join us as promotoras, completing and continuing the cycle of Latina Leadership through collective knowledge. That's what life, community, and yes, gardening, are all about. 🌱✨

¿Cuántas plántulas tenemos este año?

13,697! 🌱
