Poinsettias, while festive, can be a hazard for our pets. These holiday plants can irritate their skin or, worse, if ingested. Keep them out of reach, or opt for pet-safe holiday decor. Most stores have beautiful faux arrangements that bring joy without danger. Let’s keep this season safe for everyone!

πŸ“’ Veterinary Professionals: Key Guidelines Update
A committee of original AAHA Guidelines task force members has voted to recategorize leptospirosis as a core vaccine for all dogs starting at 12 weeks old.
This significant update to the 2022 AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines reflects growing evidence that:
βœ”οΈ All dogs are susceptible, regardless of environment
βœ”οΈ The disease carries high mortality risk
βœ”οΈ Human health is also at stake due to zoonotic transmission

Don't let your dog go viral! Last year, there was an outbreak of a mysterious canine illness, and several experts believe this occurred due to decreased vaccination rates as a result of the pandemic. To keep your furry friend safe, it's crucial to ensure they're up-to-date on their vaccinations. Here are some of the most common viral infections dogs can contract from other animals, but that vaccinations can protect them from:

Canine Distemper: A highly contagious viral disease that can affect multiple organ systems.
Canine Parvovirus: A severe gastrointestinal illness that can be fatal, especially in puppies.
Rabies: A deadly viral disease that affects the nervous system.
Bordetella: A highly contagious upper respiratory infection that affects dogs.

By ensuring your dog is vaccinated against these diseases, you can significantly reduce their risk of infection. Consult with your veterinarian to create a personalized vaccination schedule for your pet, and if your pet is due for any vaccinations before their boarding visit with us, please schedule an appointment right away!

A Veterinary Professional Associate (VPA) is NOT a mid-level provider like a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. It’s a mostly online degree with minimal hands-on training, not the expertise needed for your pet’s care. Prop. 129 jeopardizes the care Colorado’s animals deserve.

It's Feline Friday! Learn the facts to keep your cat safe. 🐱

09/27/2024

Yesterday we received two phone calls very close together about a cat that was hit by a car off of going North Sheridan going past Yale Ave. Lighter grey/white with darker colored points, with 4 white paws, maybe blue eyes. Unfortunately No microchip was located. Sadly by the time we got to her yesterday she was no longer with us. If anyone knows someone who is missing a cat that matches. Please reach out to us. We will hold her for 1 week.
