A new paper published in the journal Science said that, much like humans, rats might have the ability to imagine themselves navigating through environments other than the ones they face in the present moment.

Researchers at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, who’ve been studying rats for nearly a decade, placed the rodents in a virtual reality arena that allowed them to 'teleport' digital versions of themselves and objects using only their minds.

Researchers implanted electrodes at 128 locations in rats’ brains. When the rats moved from one place to another, the electrodes generated a particular neural pattern. A machine was linked to these electrodes in order to learn each pattern.

Now, on to the teleporting. The treadmill was disconnected, leaving the rats without the ability to use their feet to move in the environment. To get the reward, the rats had to imagine the location in their minds to digitally 'teleport' themselves.

The paper aimed to help scientists restore or enhance human brain function, as well as learn more about amnesia, with its information. Most importantly, the findings revealed how BMI can be used to study the hippocampus. This research could also potentially be incorporated into prosthetics that can be controlled using just the brain.

Here are the four boys still needing homes! I love these guys. The top ear berk boy is just the sweetest thing ever. I would be 💯 happy if these boys stayed here with me. But of course I’d much rather them have their own home :)

I’m having surgery today so I will not have any updates for the next two weeks while I heal. I’ll get rat adoptions and such sorted after!

I’ll be posting the baby boys that’s are available later tonight! They can go home around the 6th! There is 4 🙂 if someone wants to take all four home I’ll honor my previous prices of 50$ ea! As always I just want my babies to go to loving homes.

I’m super happy with this litter! They are all inquisitive and sweet. It’s also cool to see the temperament difference between the babies and which father they came from. The ones from ZEN Alix are more potato and the ones from BLU Shadow are more outgoing and fearless.

This litter really combined what I was wanting to create- flashy rats with great little personalities.

There are still 2 females and all the boys left. 🙂 I’ll get individual photos this week.. if I’m not called into work lol

So- what’s so cool about this litter?

I had mom in with two males, as I was fine with which ever boy she had a litter with.

One boy was a velveteen/ rex dumbo, the other a standard black berk with standard ears.

I have both standard eared marked babies…. AND rexoid dumbo babies in this single litter, which means this litter was dual sired!

It’s super cool to be able to see such a clear example of a dual sired litter.

Went out to start off leash training with my dog and was caught in a rainstorm. Tokyo had a bunch of fun getting filthy and we got to see a cool double rainbow
