The Urban Farm

TUF is a farm and education center that offers events, workshops, after-school programs, camps, field trips, and volunteer opportunities.

Learn about gardening, raising livestock, and horseback riding. Come explore the farm in the city! The Urban Farm (TUF) was created in 1993 when its founders began a program for 15 inner city youth to learn about horses at a private farm. It subsequently expanded its programming to include other animal and plant programs. The Urban Farm has evolved into a 23-acre educational campus devoted to prog

rams in equine education, animal husbandry and horticulture in an intimate farm setting. Our team includes Board Members, Staff and Volunteers passionate about educating and mentoring children and youth about animals, agriculture, sustainable living, and environmental stewardship. In addition to its educational programs, The Urban Farm provides an important visitor attraction to the Northeast Denver area, as well as an attractive and unique venue for mission related activities and events. Our programs incorporate the Five TUF Character Strengths that are the foundation of our learning goals: Respect, Responsibility, Grit, Caring, & Curiosity.

🌱 Early giving for Colorado Gives Day starts today! By donating early, you help ensure The Urban Farm can continue providing life-changing educational programs for kids and teens all year long. 🌟

🐔 Wondering why we’re low on farm-fresh eggs? Meet one of our TUF chickens—she’s in the middle of her annual molt! 🐓 During fall, most hens shed old feathers to grow strong, warm coats for winter, using up all their nutrients to get through this natural process. That means they stop laying eggs until their bodies are back in full feathered form.

While some farms or egg factories use artificial lighting to encourage hens to lay all winter, we prefer to let our hens rest. This natural “off season” helps them stay healthier and live longer. So, thank you for understanding, and look forward to our hens returning to their egg-laying routine come spring! 🌸🥚

Starting tomorrow, The Urban Farm will be open for winter hours on Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM, welcoming you to enjoy a quiet visit with our animals and a peaceful walk around the farm. While our market is closed, the farm’s animals and community spirit are still here! 🐄🐓🐑
