Old Garden Tractors

Old Garden Tractors I used to buy/sell/repair/trade old garden tractors. I'm retired but still will host this page. I bought an office building that had a large backyard.

It was a 1950's farmhouse converted to office building. The backyard has an orchard and lots of lawn and parking area. I started collecting tractors after buying my first riding mower. It's lead to a fascination of small tractors, and in particular, garden tractors, which are larger, heavier, and more powerful than riding mowers or lawn tractors.

I found these in my back lot. No markings. Can anyone help me with identifying them? Heavy little rascals!

Yesterday I sold my old John Deere 300 with belly mower and snowblade. I'll miss it, but I'm retiring. I used it in the back lot of my office building and to blade snow from the parking lot. I'm selling the building and no longer need it.

At one time I had 30 garden tractors in my back lot. Running this page has been a lot of fun. I still plan to run this page, but I'm now fully retired from garden tractors.

How's this for a garden tractor from Thailand. I've been to Asia a lot and have seen some pretty clever tractor setups. These 2 wheel tractors get adapted in many ways. This one is particularly innovative. No doubt the extra sheet metal works like fenders to keep the operator dry. I have more photos of SE Asian tractors. Let me know if you want to see any more photos.

Meanwhile, how are you all doing? I haven't posted in a while, but it is garden tractor season, so expect more posts from me. Feel free to post your tractors on "Old Garden Tractors" and if you have any problems with a post, let me know. Take care!

Hi Everyone! I am working on the fuel line replacement on my JD300. Question: Is there something I should replace on this fuel tank connection? It attaches with a standard hose clamp (showing in photo 2). Before I attach the new fuel line, I will clean out the fitting without removing it.

I am not sure how to remove it for cleaning. Or, should I leave it alone and just replace the fuel line?

I will put a small amount of gas in the tank and check to see if this fitting is leaking before re-assembly of the tank.

Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Yes, I know it's not a garden tractor. But sometimes you need a baby tractor to do a man's job. This little guy will go through a garden gate, unlike my JD300 which is too wide. So, for cutting smaller yards, there is a need for a tiny tractor.

I'm working on getting my old Bready Powerette 400 running. It's a tiny tractor, about the size of this one, except that it's a true garden tractor.

Who out there drives one of these little guys on a regular basis?

Hi everyone out there! I need help with my JD300. I have a fuel hose leak next to the tank. I need to replace the hose back to the tank. But, I can't get to it from below. There's just no room. Is there a trick to replacing the fuel line on the JD300 series? Or, do I have to remove the rear end, fender and seat assembly? I have a mule drive, which is part of why I can't get to the fuel tank/hose connection.

These are photos of my tractor taken today. Don't make fun of the fact that it's June and my snowplow is still on it. I've been mowing my back lot with a push mower, so it will be nice to get the JD mower setup going again.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

Our Story

I bought an office building that has a large backyard. It is a 1950's farmhouse converted to office building. The backyard has an orchard and lots of lawn and parking area. I started collecting tractors after buying my first riding mower. It's lead to a fascination of small tractors, and in particular, garden tractors, which are larger, heavier, and more powerful than riding mowers or lawn tractors.

It’s now close to 10 years later and I’m slowing down. I still have my John Deere 300 with hydraulic snowblade and hydraulic mower deck. I have a Toro rear engine riding mower that I’m going to fix and sell. I have an old Bready 4 wheel tractor that needs a complete restoration, which I might do when finished with the Toro.

I don’t have much in parts anymore, but do have some air filters, inner tubes, a few tires, a few mufflers, and some sleeve hitch parts. If you need something and I don’t have it, I’ll be happy to send you to somewhere that may have it.

There are a few collectible garden tractors in my area, Denver, Colorado USA, but not as many as back east where yards are larger and garden tractors are more common.
