BIG KITTY!!!! She is the BEST foster mom to all the scared ones that come here. She is amazing at helping them. She takes them all in as her own. She hugs them , kisses them and comforts them. They love her and stick by her side learning as they grow. She was a mangy street cat no one wanted But is now buffalos best rescue secret. She has helped cats that were refused by others because they were unfriendly. Some even I thought might be out of reach for helping but she does it every time. I am the luckiest person alive to be her momma. And for the past 11 years we have taken over a hundred of these hard cases off the streets of WNY. The cats and kittens she raised grow up with love and it shows in their personalities.
I upgraded her bowls since she is a diva and deserves the best ❤️❤️❤️

Street cat rescue Is hard It involves alot more than just sittings in a building waiting for people to bring us cats We actively go into streets and help But it’s not a easy process There is alot involved We don’t just trap friendly cats WHAT ABOUT THE COMPLETELY FERAL or SEMI FERAL POPULATION ??? Your donations to other rescues do not pay for TNVR or after care for them They need help the most They suffer on the streets and continue to breed Yet with no help available They are extremely hard to catch and handle So others pass them by and take the easy friendly ones Assessing and working with a feral is a difficult process and is time consuming Sometimes dangerous

Here at this rescue we give them all a chance We try to find the best situation for each one Sometimes it is a home But sometimes it is back to the streets But then we need to make sure they have a caregiver etc The thousands collected from other rescues goes to rehoming cats not helping street cats and feral cats live a better life and the prevention of more being born on the streets Be careful where you send your donations

THIS MEMORY CAME UP ABOUT WILSON and his story This is what we endure and go through all trapping season for the good of Buffalo And we ask nothing from the community

Why rescue? Sometimes rescue isn’t black and white Making decisions involving the best interest of the cat is hard. What you do affects
their life. And it’s difficult to decide.
Wilson was living under this abandoned house and in their yard. Next to the house on Ryan st where all the chaos is. He was friendly to pet. I tried to get him carrier. Not a fan of being picked up. That is not a usual behavior. Some cats do not like being picked up. So I trapped him. He was neutered and given medical care for ticks, fleas, and worms. Standby fitness rescue paid for his full medical care.
I brought him home to assess him. I truly believed he could be adopted and even had some interested in him. She was coming to meet him the next week. He would go home and live a happy life. Not outside in the rubble and debris with ticks on his face etc.
He was incredibly playful. Loved toys. But he had a fierce side too. He loved to be petted rolling over on his back but then lash out. It was different than just a simple behavior. He went after me a few times. So I called a fellow rescuer to assess him too.
The decision was hard but it was decided to put him back. He couldn’t be just a house cat.
There is a lot of behind the scenes things when it comes to rescue. Putting back a cat requires a lot of field work. Will he have appropriate shelter and a constant food source. And where did he come from? He is not completely feral but not completely friendly either. It’s a hard mix. But one that tells me at some point he was a pet. Come to find out that he was owned as a kitten to the house that was next to where he lived under the back porch. 59 Ryan st. His name was Kobe. As a kitten, the man threw him out. I had a conversation with this man that went south quickly. He threw out a unneutered kitten at 5 months old who is now 3 years old. Has been on the streets ,breeding in a neighborhood who does not want the cats there and have many destructive people on it. He cared very little for my concerns and cared very little for Wilson/Kobe well being. He is a evil man and I am sure Wilson’s behavior is reflective of the treatment he received as a kitten at the hands of this man and his children. Unfortunately the only place for Wilson/Kobe is on that street which he knows the territory. He is now at least neutered but is caught in between two worlds since humans let him down early in his life

This memory came up today and it reminds me of how there is no penalties for abandonment of cats Yes its a law but rarely enforced Even the SPCA doesnt enforce it I have had several cases where the owner was tracked down but refused the cat Basically dumped him without any penalty Who stands up for them ??? Thats why we are in the streets of Buffalo fighting for them everyday Against people like these who throw them out and walk away from any responsibility

Why rescue? This cat showed up in my yard. I assessed him and he was the friendliest boy. Rescue is more than just trapping a cat. There has to be a plan -what to do with it It involves the medical care , the investigation to where it came from and how it ended up where it is, and eventually what to do with it. That involves either TNVR which has a whole set of complications-recovery-re-release and does it have food ,shelter etc. is it lost ? Requires finding a owner or did that person dump it. And then there is adoption if possible. All require a start to finish approach. Catching is easy -rescue is hard.
Frack showed up in my yard. After I assessed him to see he was friendly-I took him to vet to see if he was microchipped. Surprisedly he was. He has a owner and he was 14 years old. An old man. He had barely any teeth and those that remained were in rough shape Otherwise he appeared in good shape Surely his owner was missing him because he was a sweetheart and a huge baby. The exam by the vet revealed he was adopted by the spca.
I made a call to both the microchip company and the SPCA to inform them that I had found frack. I also called the owner. As it turns out the “owner “ basically dumped him. Probably in caz park and he wandered for food. She denied ownership to both me and the officials at the spca Sad that frack was also adopted with a brother frick. Wonder what happened to him This poor boy at a old age of 14 with barely any teeth was forced to fend for himself. Since he was a spca rescue they did require that he be surrendered to them. I kept him for the 30 day hold period. I loved this boy. He was so sweet. Standby fitness rescue paid for the remainder of his dental work Rescue is taking care of the whole cat situation. From start to finish and all the complications along the way. We love you frack ❤️❤️❤️. We are sorry your previous owner let you down

This memory came up today about little venice Now FERRIS This sweet little guy is happy and now has a baby sister who he loves He was rescued from one of the worst situations i have seen We were lucky to get him when we did because none of his siblings survived
We raise them as family and it shows ❤️❤️❤️

Memory

Why rescue? I got a call and asked to take this kitten from a abuse case. The farm out in ransomville was later the target of a raid from the spca where horses, dogs etc were taken in a severe neglect case. Little Venice was the only survivor of his litter. He had severe respiratory problems and was treated at op. Standby fitness rescue paid for all his medical care. After he recovered, he was the sweetest little man who played and loved to be brushed. He was adopted to a great couple who loves him. He has other brother and sister cats and is happy and healthy. Standby fitness rescue-unleash the power to change the destiny of a stray

One of the things I insist on is these cats are raised in a family environment and also a CLEAN one!!!!
I have seen many fosters houses or areas where they keep the cats and it SICKENS me. I see a constant post about “ fosters needed” from other rescues but they take anyone. They have no idea about how they are kept. And SOME DONT CARE!! One if the big rescues in buffalo has a foster who conditions are disgusting. I have seen it first hand when picking up some rescues from her. Flea infested and ringworm. A recent outbreak of parvo killed two kittens in her care. And yet they continue to give her fosters.
I have seen small cages stuffed with too many cats. Dirty conditions , crusty bowls. Litter boxes stuffed with waste, etc I have even seen injuries caused by fosters -some very serious and clearly abuse

when adopting you should be concerned how your new family member spent the last weeks of their life since it makes a huge difference in their personality.

I spent every Sunday doing a throughout cleaning here to ensure their safety. We even got a new mattress /couch vacuum to kill any bacteria on surfaces. We will never have to clean cages because they don’t deserve to be locked up.
My house is their house since they are family!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

FOR THOSE THAT ARE NEW TO MY RESCUE
This Is one of the many emails sent begging for help in the MURDER investigation of my boy SNIPER -no one listened More and more this area is declining with driveby shootings etc Including someone shooting at a person in broad daylight TODAY !!!
We continue to help the streets of south Buffalo as we have for years We are the only rescue on these streets helping over 120 strays off these streets And we asked nothing from the community But the community turned their back on us when we needed it And yet we have several trapping projects lined up for south Buffalo helping more cats this season

I RECEIVED NO RESPONSE TO THIS HE IGNORED ME

Hello Mr. Batt;
I am following up from my conversation and email to you and your office about the camera footage from the morning of October 18 from 630am to 9 am.
As you are aware there is a high potential of a criminal act of animal abuse that the tape would reveal. As I have previously stated, the city camera reveals a person of interest at the crime scene right before the body was found. And as I have also previously stated, the direction that person left is in the range of the camera footage mercy hospital obtains. While it is not the main focus of the camera - it will still pick up that person coming and going , possibly even choking the life out of him and snapping his neck, carrying his lifeless body and dumping it.
I understand you are busy with other matters pertaining to the operation of a medical entity. But I have been more than patient and have asked on several occasions for any input or direction into seeing this footage. I would even be willing to view it in your facility so that the tape doesn’t get revealed. But I need to see it and comb through it. I am the one who has a vested interest in it.
Please don’t ignore me All the previous requests have been ignored. I asked for the tape or some direction to take to get it. My next step is the media. And to flood social media with the story and lack of cooperation.
No one deserves to have this happen to them. I raised sniper since he was a two-week-old kitten. He was six and a half when he was murdered. Not only that but I am responsible for taking so many off the streets of South Buffalo and WNY. Without me South Buffalo would be overrun with feral cats. I am sure the media would be more than sympathetic to my story. More than sympathetic when they see over 175 pictures and videos I have of my boy. When they see all the cats and kittens that I have saved and all the good my rescue does for WNY. We did a major fitness challenge for charities across WNY this summer. We are a force in the Buffalo community.
I want justice for my boy. All I ask is a chance to view those three hours. Please let me know what direction I need to take to view that film. Thank you for your time

This is when I return home at the rescue. This is what happens at night when I watch tv. We are family here. They are raised in a home where they are a PART of everything and involved in life here.
WE DONT LOCK THEM AWAY IN CAGES OR A SEPARATE ROOM. This makes a huge difference in their personality and their disposition. This is our life. Not a job where we get paid. They are raised as one of the family.
I would never adopt a cat raised in a cage and I would never pay a 200 adoption fee. Both are ridiculous.
This is a lifestyle. Our rescues are family. Not just a pet that lives in your house.

03/20/2025

This is what we do for FREE. From street to home. Where does all the thousands in fundraising go for these other rescues? Many won’t help without getting money first and post a constant stream of posts seeking donations for EVERY Project and EVERY cat.
So they get surrender fees , fundraising money, food donations and free fosters who do the work and then still charge adoption fees up to 250 per cat. Is that rescue or business ?
And they don’t help FERAL cats. Only friendly ones. Be careful where your donations go. You are paying peoples high salaries not helping cats.

Some won’t even help without getting a fee first. Others require a surrender fee before they will help them. And they get mad we help for free. Isn’t that what rescue means. Helping not just because you get PAID

If you get surrender fees to pay for vetting, then why charge an adoption fee to pay for the same vetting ? Plus donations and donated food, volunteers etc.
