🌿🐱 It's important to be aware of which plants can be harmful to your furry friends.

😔 Elephant’s Ear, Begonia, Caladium, Dumb Cane, Philodendron, and Umbrella Tree are examples of plants that contain needle-shaped crystals called raphides, which can cause mouth and throat irritation, swelling, and difficulty swallowing.

👀 Other common garden plants that can be harmful to pets include Nightshades, Datura, Poppy, Oleander, and Foxglove.

The observance originated in 1919 on the first anniversary of the 1918 armistice that ended World War I and was known as Armistice Day. It was commemorated in 1921 with the burial of an unknown soldier from World War I at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

November 11 became an official national holiday in the United States in 1938. In 1954 the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor those who had served in all U.S. wars. Ceremonies are held each year at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and floral tributes are placed on the graves of service men and women and at memorials throughout the country.

To all veterans, we salute you and express our deepest gratitude. Your service and commitment will never be forgotten.

Lyme disease can be difficult to diagnose in pets, as their signs are often vague and nonspecific. Unlike humans, pets do not develop the classic bullseye rash associated with the disease.

We advise Lyme disease testing (i.e., a blood test) for pets with clinical signs that include fever, lethargy, appetite loss, swollen lymph nodes, intermittent lameness, and painful or swollen joints.
