As most of you probably know, I wanted to address, what we are doing here at A Purdy Pet to protect our fur friends ๐พ๐
There is a new illness that has been going around the US, it attack pups respiratory system, similar to Kennel Cough (Tracheobronchitis), it can be easily transmitted from dog to dog.
Here are the steps and precautions we have been advised and are advising our customers to take:
-Since avoiding high dog trafficked areas is next to impossible, make sure your pup is up to date on all shots. Especially, the kennel cough shot.
-If your pup starts wheezing, coughing, or has a snotty nose, please don't bring them to the groomer, please stay out of all public areas to prevent transmission.
-Call the vet if you feel like something is off about your pup, and take them in if you feel they need looked at. Be sure to question your vet in the best protocol when bringing them in, including going into any quarantine doors if they have them and stay in all quarantine areas.
-Pay attention to other dogs in the areas your pup has to be.
What we are doing at A Purdy Pet to prevent the transmission and spread of this virus:
-We have installed multiple air purifiers all throughout our building.
-We are beginning to use Microban 24- this is a 24 hour sanitizing spray. This will continue to disinfect our surfaces over a 24 hour period even when we are away.
-All of our dogs are kept separate from others, and we sanitize every equipment and all tools, our tables and bathing equipment in between every dog.
All of us at A Purdy Pet are taking precautions to prevent the spread of this illness. This means along with disinfecting procedures; much like how we handle a pup coming in coughing, we will have to turn pups away if they are showing sings of illness, and will reschedule your appointment after 14 days once cleared by the vet.
The only way we will take dogs in that are coughing is if they have Congestive Heart Failure. CHF's major sign is a constant cough with a particular sound to it. YOU MUST HAVE A RELEASE FORM FROM YOUR VET STATING YOUR PET HAS CHF.
We will not take in dogs currently on antibiotics, sneezing, or display any other symptoms of an illness.
Together, we can make sure we keep our pets as safe and healthy as possible. ๐
