Our kennel stays quiet and low-stress, you’ll always know who is taking care of your dog, we have no holiday surcharges, and drop offs/pickups can be scheduled from 8am-8pm 7 days a week. The best way to ensure you’ll have a well mannered dog is to start building those skills from the start. I have openings for puppy training starting November 6th. This 14 week old puppy is on day 12 of her 14 day program in this video. ❤️ Way to go Matilda!

Progesterone day for Bumble… a day we’ve been waiting for and working towards for the last 3 years.

The waiting list for this all yellow litter has begun. Bumble has excelled in hunt tests (Master hunter at 2.4 years of age), she has littermates with a variety of sport dog titles, working as diabetic alert service dogs, and working as firearm detection dogs. They are the most personable, incredible companions and hunting dogs as well.

Everyone that has met bumble, has been absolutely smitten with her - you won’t find an easier dog to live with, with more talent, or more personality.

It’s a new month, and we have some new faces here for training! We can’t wait to see their progress over the next few weeks.

Zoey is here to gain a lot of confidence (and work on some fear based issues), build some leash skills, and learn some manners and boundaries within the home.

Rocko is here to learn basic obedience, and develop some good habits and manners within the home.

And Jonesy is also here to learn to have better manners in the home, work on his recall, and improve his basic obedience!

Huge congratulations to K9 Knox and his handler Deputy Kaziuk (from my Patty x Willie Justin Hinze litter). He recently certified as a narcotics detection dog and will be serving on the Lee County Sheriff’s Department’s Tactical Narcotics Team!

He is the third Wheatland Retriever to certify for the Lee County Sheriff's Office so far this year and we are so proud of our dogs, and thankful for this partnership.

Successful first day on the job for Jake Ballinger ❤️

Yes, that’s right…. Somehow I scored Jake as our new full time employee. For those that don’t know, we became friends after he bought a 2021 Blair x Willie puppy. He hasn’t left since 🙂 he already knows all of our regular boarding dogs, personal dogs, and will be a fabulous asset to the team 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Growth here at Wheatland Dog Center continues! We’ve added several new females to our breeding program and I’m excited to introduce them

First up is Abby - she is a daughter of Ali, and has her Master Hunter title. We were able to whelp her litter for her previous owner over the summer, and after seeing how well she fit in here we jumped at the chance to buy her when she came up available. https://huntinglabpedigree.com/Pedigree.asp?id=156084

Next is Chivas - she comes to us from Canada. She is Qualified all age, and also has her Master Hunter title. She is a powerhouse, with incredible control and precision. We are very lucky to have her. https://huntinglabpedigree.com/pedigree.asp?id=166415

Last, but not least, is Lori - Lori is (on paper) a full sibling to Rocky, the sire of our “big money” litter from earlier this year. Not only is her pedigree outstanding, but she’s already produced some incredible puppies - with all age open wins. We feel incredibly fortunate that we’ve been trusted with these girls, and I can’t wait to see what they produce for us and our clients in the coming years.

We are now offering FREE nail trims for all of our boarding clients.

Long nails cause increased pressure on the toes and foot, leading to mobility and traction issues, and painful broken/cracked/split nails. If there is something we can do to improve your dogs quality of life, we’re happy to. We trim enough nails, we can generally get everyone done - even if it’s not high on their list of favorite things to do. 🙂

They are 2 weeks old, their eyes are open, they’ve had their first nail trim, and they’re toddling all over the place. Miss Luna is 10 days into her training and is an absolute rockstar! This was her very first field trip to go train in public. ❤️

Georgie, Lucy, and Maverick are a few of our spring break boarding dogs this week. This is what our potty breaks and playtime looks like. No concrete kennel runs. No out of control, unsupervised dog interactions. We send dogs home in a happier mental state then when they came to us.

Training dogs Caira and Chip are two peas in a pod. They love the off leash freedom they get now that they’ve learned some obedience skills! 😍

It’s been over a year since Riley was here for training. He had some pretty extreme dog reactivity issues, and lacked confidence in general. He just got dropped off a few hours ago to board for the weekend and nothing makes me happier than pulling a graduate out of the kennel and having training retention like this. 💪🏻

Most boarding facilities provide your dog with an indoor/outdoor kennel… This is what potty breaks with us look like. ❤️

We’ve been BUSY this winter with lots of training clients, and raising a litter of Australian shepherd puppies - our “Pepper” litter (because they’re so spicy, duh!). We do still have some availability for boys, please check out www.wheatlanddogcenter.com/puppies for more information. Today the Peppers got upgraded to their big puppy digs! It’s time for them to begin learning to use potty boxes - which will teach them to keep their general living area clean, and translates to a super easy dog to potty train. I also find it hugely beneficial for them to be raised in the living room from 4-8 weeks, where they’ll get daily exposure to the vacuum cleaner, people and animals coming in and out, typical kitchen noises, and so much more. These are the types of foundational things that breeders can and should do to set their puppies (and their future families) up for success. Our Peopers will make exceptional companions, have a love for learning, and will be highly biddable. ❤️❤️❤️

It’s starting to feel like fall, and we all couldn’t be more ready! I’ve got to brag on this group of boarding, training and resident dogs for a second. We’ve got 3 males (1 intact), and 3 females (2 intact) out enjoying the day with us here. All of these dogs are fairly young with some big personalities. It’s rarely possibly to SAFELY have large playgroups that are this high energy; but this group is doing a fantastic job and learning super valuable social skills while having a blast. 😍🙌🏼
