❤️ Meet Our Caregivers ❤️ Say hello to Morgan:
“Hi! I’m Morgan and I am excited to help you with your furry loved ones! I have been a “fur mom” my entire life and a petsitter for over 20 years. I have a full time job with the State of Iowa and a Masters in Public Health. In my free time I volunteer with the ARL “Catsnip” Trap Neuter Release (TNR) program, coach high school track & field, and enjoy spoiling my growing crew of nieces and nephews. I would love to spoil your furry friends too! The services I provide include drop-in visits, pet nanny care, dog walking and dog running for the high energy adventurous types! I am looking forward to meeting you and your furry family!”

Winter Pet Tip For the Holidays: Keep snow globes out of reach from curious kittens and other pets! Not only can pets injure themselves on broken glass, many globes have a mixture containing antifreeze which can cause kidney failure in cats & dogs.

Sage insights from our favorite ❤️, Sheila Williams with Sheila Williams Dog Training:

Many dogs love visitors and are able to behave appropriately when guests arrive. However, not all dogs enjoy busy environments. Whether your dog is a social butterfly or a wallflower, there are a couple of things you can do proactively to help your guests interact appropriately with your dog.

Be honest with guests about your dog's challenges. Ask them to keep interactions low-key and calm.
If your guests will be bringing children, make sure that the children know how to interact safely and appropriately with dogs, and be sure that all child-dog interactions are closely monitored by someone well-versed in canine body language. Depending on your dog's tolerance for children, it may be best to put your dog away in a quiet room with a frozen kong before guests arrive.

Ask your guests to refrain from slipping your dog table food. You can always provide guests with a bowl of safe owner-approved dog snacks, e.g. small pieces of cut carrots, green peppers, apples (no cores or seeds), or commercial treats.

Give your dog an escape route to another area of the house so that once they greet guests they have a quiet place to chill out.

Unless your dog is super chill, able to tolerate high levels of excitement, and well-behaved around guests, consider putting your dog away in a quiet room before guests arrive. While we all want our furry family members to enjoy the holiday festivities, it is always best to know and respect their individual tolerance levels. While many dogs happily greet and mingle with guests, many more dogs are "wallflowers" who will appreciate having a quiet space of their own away from the festivities.
If your dog is anxious or fearful, before guests start arriving, put them in their own quiet room away from all the initial excitement and festivities. Depending on your dog's level of anxiety or fear, consider asking your vet for medications to help them stay calm in their safe space.

We all want our dog to be part of holiday gatherings. They are, after all, part of the family. However, we need to prepare them to be good holiday participants by proactively teaching them how to behave when guests come, understanding and respecting their tolerance level for busy situations, and asking guests to keep interactions with your dog low key and calm.

If you have any questions about how to start preparing your dog for the holidays, I would be happy to do a complimentary phone consultation to see how we can help your furry family members.

From my family to yours, I wish you all a safe, happy, and wonderful holiday season! Sheila Williams 515-992-6290 https://sheilawilliamsdogtraining.com/

Winter Pet Tip for the Holidays: Keep plants & floral arrangements far out of reach! Yew (a common green used in wreaths and decor), Holly, Mistletoe, Lillies, Amaryllis & Poinsettias all have varying levels of toxicity. It’s a good practice to research any new plants and flowers before introducing them to the household.

❤️ Meet Our Caregivers ❤️ Say hello to Monica:
“Hello there! My name is Monica. I literally grew up with dogs. My earliest memories involve helping my family raise Doberman Pinschers. In fact, I had my own Dobie when I was three! We went on to raise Miniature Schnauzers, and then Chow Chows. In my adult life, I’ve been blessed to have a Schnauzer of my own, a crazy Beagle, and another Doberman. I keep busy with my two very active humans, so unfortunately, I don’t have a dog that lives with me. I am a “dog aunt” to many of my friends’ dogs and which is why this job is perfect for me. As you can see, I love all different breeds of dogs. And even though I’m a “dog aunt” I am happy to take care of other animals as well! I offer overnight pet and house sitting, drop in visits, dog walks and pet nanny care.”

❤️ Meet Our Caregivers ❤️ Say hello to Lori P.:
“Hi! My name is Lori, and I have always had a big heart for animals! I’m blessed to be the mom to 3 wonderful humans and 5 furry pets! Gia (Pomchi), Xena (Black Lab), Eva (Tuxedo cat), Axl (Silver cat), and Chip (Teddy Bear hamster). I truly understand how stressful it can be to be apart from your furry family members. I would consider it a real privilege to be entrusted to care for your sweet babies and love on them while you are away. I want to put your mind at ease and reassure you that your babes will be cared for as if they were my own. I am a stay-at-home mom with school age kiddos. I have all sorts of flexibility in my schedule! I provide drop-in visits, vacation visits, walks, and pet nanny care. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and to love on your furry family members.”
