Hey everyone! Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful Midwest fall weather!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already October and we’re just a month and two months away from some of our major holidays where we get to spend lots of time with family and friends! Remember that this can be a stressful time, exciting time for your pets so take steps now to polish up on some of those manners and obedience skills! And remember, if you’re a MYTDOG client, almost all of our programs come with lifetime support so all you have to do is reach out if you have questions or challenges that we can help you with! Or maybe sending your dog for a little tuneup on their training may be helpful, reach out now so we can help you be ready for those holidays and keep that stress, low and enjoyment high!

I would like to place this order by Monday, October 7th at noon!!! To place and order you must pay a deposit of $150. Your remaining balance will be do when I am notified of shipping and billed from Ruffland.

This little CALIFORNIA GIRL is a house guest for the next 2+ weeks while we work together to get her manners and obedience in order! Kate is a rescue that came from Texas so she’s down been a little traveler in her 9mo’s on this earth and will get to have lots more travel adventures with her amazing owner once she’s “travel ready”!

Seriously, I’m just blown away by this boy! My approach to competing is always expect that you do your best and where ever that lands us, be thankful! Now that doesn’t mean I’m not competitive, it means I recognize that once we are on that dock, I have a part but without him, there is no game to play, no competition without the one that does the real work and is the true competitor! I look how we compete by setting individual goals, ones that may have to do with being connected/ in sync, with stride or placement, with timing things right on and off the dock, and with me doing my part with reaction time……….

So for SPEED RETRIEVE today I had these goals:

1. HOLD ON! 😉

2. Get a good set in the box. With Trexx there is a feeling when we have this and we did today!!

3. Count the lights but don’t push to hard the first run so we have a score. Second run push hard!

4. Shooting for a run of 5.4 seconds….. and that asking for a pretty slim margin of error with reaction and a good swim but that was a goal.

RUN 1: , the crowd was crazy and so was Trexx but he was ready and set up in the back or the box without and wrestling holds to make sure I didn’t lose him. 😉🤣. Was able to set him up in our normal hold and when I felt him locked in, I nodded…….. red, yellow, green GOOOOO!

The boy flew out of my hands like rocket, hit the end of the dock and a nice straight swim….

“Reaction time .14x and swim time 5.341!!”

HOLY CRAP! Well we hit the goal so next run was time for me to push my part, get that better reaction time!

RUN 2: Trexx was fired up! We set up, nod for the lights, deep breath and count……. GOOOOOO!

“Reaction time .020 and run time 5.405!!!

Happy dance for my little man, I’m so proud!

And I have to say I was so thrilled to be followed in line by a favorite team of Cindy Ferguson and HIT! Their first run Cindy ran a .33x rt with a 5.6xx but I knew they would be coming back with something special run 2! Trexx and I stood near the dock screaming and cheering and when Hit left the dock the jump was BIG and it was one of those you can tell was fast and so good!!!! We were thrilled for then when we heard 4.8xx seconds!!! Way to go HIT

HOLY BUCKETS!!!! The little T-Rex is becoming a monster to hold on the dock! Two FS because he’s jumping on the light change and pulling me forward, almost over! 🤦‍♀️🤣🤣. I’ll take that enthusiasm and drive, I just am going to have to find some adjustment to makes sure he doesn’t slip away, pull me over and we can get in sync. It’s ALL GOOD though because he’s IN HEAVEN!!!

We will run again at 1pm ……. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻, we need a score!

Each year around this time this time, I go through and look at Trexx’s rankings. Last year at this time he was having quite the season with many placements and some great Speed scores and I was so proud and we were loving every second! 3 weeks later he would have an injury that would take the entire season to heal and recover from, it was heartbreaking but we never give up!

This year I share these mostly for myself and my memories hit also to celebrate Trexx coming back and showing his little heart and body are still in it!! So here are his current rankings broken down:

I learned long ago, thanks to Tanman, that the placements, scores and accomplishments are amazing BUT they are NOT what you truly cherish when you make the journey about what’s important…. It’s that bond and relationship! When you focus on that, good things come and you are never disappointed, let down and remember why you are here….. because of that amazing athletic dog that stands beside you!

My top goal for the season is for Trexx to stay strong and healthy, the second is that he loves every second shared with me and the third is that we perform at our best and make the most of each opportunity we have to compete and make memories in the dock!!!

I’m quite proud of my little man 🦖Trexx! I went into this season slowly and not knowing what his performance would look like with so much time off. After his Illiopsoas injury last year I only knew we had done what we could to treat, recover and rehab, putting all of that before that tug of wanting to compete and being a spectator at events and event 2023 Worlds was HARD!

2024 being the 25 year ANNIVERSARY of dockdogs, it being MY 20th SEASON, it being TREXX’s first VETERAN SEASON, these and my love for this dog and his well-being were all the motivation behind making sure I let last year go so that we could HOPEFULLY be able to play the game this year and be our best, whatever that would end up being for him and I. And I have to say the little man 🦖 may not quite be at the speeds he has been but he’s been close and having fun and that makes it all worthwhile!

So far this season we have competed the following places and had the listed results;

I always approach our events with hope and the dedication to do and be our best and whatever comes from that is something I can never feel disappointed with…… and when the results are like they have been, all I can do is be thankful and appreciate that I have the best little man as a partner!

We have a number of events still in the plans so hopefully we can stay healthy and strong and continue to build our connection and teamwork to put out the best and most exciting performance for ourselves and all this amazing people that are kind enough to be on the side of the pool cheering us on!!! I’m guessing these colors will sell fast so we may not have a lot of time until the sell out so let’s set the deadline for Thursday evening, July 4th at 8pm and we hope that they don’t sell out before that time!

I always hope I make a difference, an impact, and not just on the dogs I train but on the people that are connected to them! To be honest, my goal in life is to make a positive difference and impression on everyone I meet. Most days go by and though I hope I have done that, but you just never really know……..

But today is one of those days that something so sweet and thoughtful happened that I had to share!

Not long ago I was so fortunate to connect with a women and her dog thanks to a referral from an amazing client. Cooper was one of those dogs that is what I call a 2% dog, 98% of the time he is awesome but that 2% was what too the joy out of walks and random moments. This dog was special and had so many great things about him already, thanks to his owners hard work and the great dog Cooper is! Little Vioper stayed with me for a board and train and was just a joy to have and we truly connected because he didn’t act like a little dog, there was just something special about him. And it was also one of those situations where you could just tell that Cooper was in the best hands he could have ever landed in, Jody is awesome!

Well, training here was complete but Jody and Cooper keep up the work and share their progress and even struggles and how they conquer them, it’s a trainers dream! I love that Jody does this and I’m so happy for them!

This morning I checked my mail and found I had received a card, one that had a bit of thickness to it. Had no idea who would have sent it but then I opened it and found what in the pictures. Jody and Cooper sent me the most amazing card with suck a sweet note in it! ❤️. I also found a gift card to Amazon and then there were two personalized key chains that just made my heart swell, it was so special and made my week! I can’t even explain how much it meant and got me all choked up!

I train dogs and people because I love it, because I want people to have a dog that’s included in their life and connected in a healthy, special way that feeds their soul. Not everyone’s hopes or goals are like mine but it’s my hope to give people the ability to have that, and today I’m reminded that it does happen!

Thank you Jody and Cooper for the amazing gifts and thinking of me. And thank you Jody for trusting me with that important 4 legged family member! I love what I do and I’m so glad I could help make a difference!

A HUGE thank you to RYAN and the staff in the grooming department at Paws and Pints for allowing me to bring Sophie in to meet them yesterday! We had such positive steps with this fearful girl that she got an appointment for her nail trim today and did AMAZING! I can’t even explain what a HUGE thing this is! Next step is getting to go in next week for the full spa treatment!! Yay for Sophie!! And a HUGE thank you to RYAN, I HIGHLY recommend him! (There are a handful of people I trust and feel comfortable with my dogs, so if I recommend someone, it’s because they have been able to handle the 🦖 …… feel free to ask if you want suggestions of people to groom or watch your dog!)

You can’t help but fall in love with this sweet soul. Sophie lives in a world that’s full of things that scare her. She’s so lucky to have been adopted by the most amazing and loving family that is patient and committed to helping make her life be a more comforting and enjoyable place, shes a very lucky girl! It’s only been 3 days but I can’t explain how big a difference what you see in the video below is. I’m honored that Sophie has quickly been able to let down her guard with me and make big strides! I’m so excited to be on this training journey with Sophie and her family! Welcome to MYTDOG Sophie!
