Hello!
Can't believe it's been a whole year already! Where does the time go?
So I thought I'd pop in and say hello! I think of everyone all the time and wonder how everyone is doing. Of course I do miss you all and all of the fur kids. πŸ€—
All is well with me. I've been busy with some boring, family related things. πŸ™„πŸ˜‚
Several people have messaged me to find out if I've opened another shop or if I am grooming somewhere or even if I'd groom their dogs privately. So if there's anyone else who is wondering, I'll just let you know here that no, I haven't opened another shop and I am not grooming in another shop anywhere and I also cannot groom your dogs privately as I am no longer a business and no longer insured.
So, how is everyone? Please reply and maybe even of pic of the fur kid(s)? πŸ₯°
Miss you all, Kim

After much thought and consideration, I have decided to permanently close Bark Avenue.
Our last day will be Wednesday, June 30th.
Laural and I would like to thank all of our customers for your loyalty and the trust you have put in us for so many years. We have made many friendships and also a lot of happy memories which we will cherish forever.
Of course, we will miss our fur clients too very much and hope your new groomers will treat them in the same manner in which they have become accustomed to.
To help ease your transition to a new groomer, we would like to provide you with your dogs grooming instructions, including lengths or any other important notes upon request, just stop in or call us.
I will be keeping the page open for a while just in case anyone needs to reach us for any reason.

Thank you again for 28 wonderful years! ❀️
Kim & Laural

Just wanted to post an update and let everyone know I'm back and that we are taking big dogs again. πŸ™‚

3/22
I would just like to say thank you so much for the huge response to my post and to everyone that has called for appointments this month before I have to leave. πŸ’• This really helps us so much!
It will also help to lighten the load on Laural a little bit next month.
You're all the absolute best clients any groomer could ever ask for. Thank you!
---------------------------------------------------
Hi everybody! Just wanted to give everyone an update on what's happening. You may remember last February I had eye surgery and all went well but I was then rescheduled for another eye surgery in April. Well, along came Covid and we were shut down in March, my surgery for April was cancelled and we weren't able to reopen until June.
So, due to being shut down for two and a half months we have had no choice but to keep working to try and catch back up.
I am now at a place where I have to go back in for surgery X 2 so I am going to try to convey what I know and what I don't really know yet and what we think we're going to have to do in the shop to handle it.
Surgery #1 will be on Monday, April 5th and then due to my restrictions, I cannot do anything grooming related in the shop for at least one week. I will have a recheck the very next day with my Dr. on April 6th. and another recheck the following Tuesday on April 13th. Some time in between there I hope to find out if I can try to work the week of the 12th thru the 17th. In the meantime, Laural will be working and trying to do what she can. Unfortunately, this means we most likely will not be able to book any large dogs for most of April.
Then, I have a second surgery scheduled for two weeks after the first one on April 19th and again, I will not be able to do anything grooming related, no bathing, blow drying, lifting, squatting etc. for a minimum of one week and/or until my doctor says I can start grooming again. so, April is going to consist of a lot of playing it by ear and taking it as it comes for us. We may get backed up or may have to turn people away, I really hope not but as said earlier, we wont be able to take any large dogs that Laural is unable to lift by herself.
We will try to book as many as we can up til my first surgery date though and hope that I can maybe do a few in the second weeks after each surgery but I just cant say for sure right now.
It may be a very difficult month for us and I hope we can accommodate everyone who calls for an appointment somehow.
I am asking that if you know anyone who may not follow our page and see this, that you would please let them know for us as we have many senior customers who just may not use Facebook and won't be aware until they call. Thank you so much! Kim

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do this but apparently I do.
I apologize ahead of time to everyone that this does not apply to, this post is not meant for you.
Today Laural and I were in the shop getting everything ready for opening day and making calls when in pops a person in the lobby with a dog. Now this is partially my fault because it happens any time our cars are there. I should have locked the front door I suppose.
I have the reopening date notice on the front door right now which also says all dogs must have an appointment and that you must call for an appointment. The notice I intend to put up on opening day tells everyone that we will not be allowing anyone into the shop and that we are asking everyone to please be wearing a mask that covers both your mouth and nose when you drop off and pick up your dog(s). We are also informing everyone of this on the phone when we set appointments.
This person who walked in today came right in and with no mask at all. REALLY?????
I just want to say right now that if you are unable to wear a mask for medical reasons or because of anxiety or what have you, please have someone else drop off and pick up your dog(s).
If you are one of the people who just refuses to wear a mask for what ever your reasons are, don't come here. We won't have it!
We will be taking every precaution we can to try and keep everyone safe, both people and dogs, which will add many more steps to be taken throughout the day and take more time but its what we have to do. If you can't wear a mask for one minute to protect others, do not come here!
Rant over πŸ˜‰ Carry on! πŸ™‚

Hello everyone!
Our reopening date is set for Tuesday, June 2nd.
We have a list going of everyone that has called and left messages for appointments, however, the people who already had appointments scheduled after March 21st. when we had to close will be called back first then we will start on the phone message list.

There are obviously going to be some changes as far as how we do things and we will go over this with everyone on the phone when we are scheduling your appointments.
If you are an existing customer, we will go over the details of the haircut with you on the phone when you make your appointment.
We will not have more than four customers dogs in the shop at any time and we will be cleaning and wiping and hand washing between every dog that we handle.
We will be wearing our masks in the shop most of the time. If there are any dogs that might have a problem with masks, we will be wearing clear face shields instead. We will not be breathing on anyone's dogs.
All dogs coming in will have to have an appointment and WE WILL ONLY BE SETTING APPOINTMENTS BY PHONE. This will apply to nail clips also.
We ask that you please have patience with us as we get in the swing of things and hopefully the numbers will start looking better and we will be able to get more dogs in per day.
Stay safe everyone! We look forward to seeing you and all of the fur kids again!

Hello all!
Here is our update for you about us re-opening but first I'd like to say that as dog groomers our #1 top priority is safety and it always will be so with that said, we feel that the best course of action is to not re-open right at this time.
We are not going to set a re-opening date at this time either.
When we feel that we can operate safely without putting anyone at risk, we will re-open, whether that is a week from now or a month, we don't know right now.
Next I'd like to mention again that if your dog needs a nail clipping to please check with your animal hospital and see if they will do them.
Also, of course we are concerned about your dogs and the condition they can get in without regular professional grooming. If you are planning on trying to do any clipping or maintenance trimming yourself, PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me (Kim) through Messenger.
Please take care everyone, stay safe and wear your masks! πŸ˜·πŸ‘πŸ»

Hello! We are working out all of the details about our reopening. I will post again here when everything is set.
Thanks and have a great day! πŸ™‚

Hi all! How is everyone doing?
Listening to the governor today, I'm kind of under the impression that he's going to extend the shelter in place order. What do you think?
I am thinking about everyone's fur kids non stop and wondering what they all look like.
Please keep an eye on those nails! That is very important!
If you're afraid to clip them yourself, please call your vet and see if they can do them.
Feeling so helpless and hoping this is over soon! Stay safe everyone!

The Governor has just issued a shelter in place order for Illinois starting at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.
We still plan to come in and do all of the scheduled dogs then we will close down.
We had planned to close down on Wednesday at the end of the day, I just hadn't made the post yet.
We will be closed down temporarily until it is safe to come back. We don't know how long that will be but I will post any updates here and for people that don't use Facebook or a computer, I will leave any updates on our voicemail message also.
Stay safe everyone!

We just want to let everyone know that we are still open, for how long nobody knows yet.
We did want to reassure everyone that we are following the guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting as instructed by the CDC.
We also wanted to let you know that both the CDC and the AVMA have stated, β€œβ€¦infectious disease experts and multiple international and domestic human and animal health organizations agree there is no evidence at this point to indicate that pets can spread COVID-19 to other animals, including people.” They also state, β€œβ€¦WHO [World Health Organization] indicate there is no evidence to suggest that pet dogs or cats can be a source of infection…”
So, with that said, we will keep grooming as long as we are able to and will post again if anything changes.
Please stay safe!
