Here's a yearly reminder - baby squirrels running after you and even clinging to the leg of your pants are not rabid ! They’re doing this out of sheer desperation because they’ve lost their mother and have been lacking care for days. Young squirrels are an exception in the animal kingdom - when they have lost contact with their mom and suffer hunger and thirst, they gather all their courage and purposefully seek help from humans. Most of these animals are also injured by a fall from a tree on their nose. Help them out !

I would like to thank everyone for helping with the kitten rescue. I also need to be sure to clarify about Pine Oaks Apts. They helped the best way they could and NEVER had any intention of “disposing” of the kittens. That was a miscommunication between my and my nephew. All six kittens have been rescued. I took them to Mesquite Animal Services, where they are getting checked out, cleaned up and ready for adoption. I believe they’re not quite at weight yet but when they are ready if anyone decides to give one of these kittens a good, loving home just message me with adoption papers and I will be happy to assist in providing some food and toys to get you started. It was amazing seeing so many people jumping in to help and provide valuable information. Thank you again.

ALL SIX KITTENS HAVE BEEN SAVED. A very nice lady named Katie went and got them. She’s keeping one and taking the rest up to a shelter/rescue. I also have another lady that is wanting one. YAY! Thank you all for sharing the post!

UPDATE: Leasing agent has assured me they will NOT “dispose” of the kittens. They are making ready the apartment where the kittens are currently on the balcony. They will need to move the kittens because the apartment is being leased.

The litter of kittens are still in need of being rescued if possible. Hopefully a rescue can catch them. Again, if you can adopt or foster please let me know and I will be more than happy to help with food, collars, toys or anything they may need.

We didn’t know how we were gonna afford it but God gave us a way. Old Man had his surgery to remove the tumor on his eyelid and on his side. He is doing good. If I ever win the lottery I’m gonna set aside money to help people who rescue strays and provide funds for medical care.
It’s very likely Old Man has cancer. Vet believes he’s over 11 years old so while removing the tumors didn’t cure him in any way he can now have a better quality of life. We intend to make him feel comfortable, loved and happy throughout whatever time he has left.

One of our long time guests at JASPERS crossed over the rainbow bridge this week. We had the pleasure of taking care of BUCK for almost 6 years. He was a wonderful fur baby. Always ready with kisses and cuddles. Got along great with the other dogs (and cats), full of energy and had the sweetest disposition. He will be dearly missed.
