Our teams are getting ready for the upcoming snowstorm. Yesterday, our volunteer team bagged 190 bales of straw, which will provide 380 animals with warmth during the cold weather. Ensuring the animals in our community have the proper care they need all year round is essential. Stay warm, everyone!

Microchipping your pets can help you reunite with them more easily and quickly if they become lost. The recent closing of the pet microchip company "Save the Life" is a good reminder to check your pet's chip manufacturer and ensure all your contact information on the microchip is up-to-date. If you have any questions or concerns about your pet's microchip, reach out to your veterinarian.

Dr. Crystal Sapp, the Vice President of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan Humane, was one of many veterinarians who recently learned a microchip company called "Save This Life" appeared to be out of business.

Pets make our lives better, which is why we release a calendar each year that highlights the pets of our supporters and the special meaning they hold for them.

This month's featured pet is Maxwell, photographed by Joni Roberts. His parents, Jim and Cheryl, share the following: "Sadly, our dear sweet Maxwell passed away suddenly in February at the age of 17. He was our loving couch potato, who enjoyed snuggling on the couch and curling up in his favorite blanket for an evening of TV. He was such a special little guy, and we loved him so much. While our hearts still break at his loss, we cherish the wonderful memories we have of him. His spirit will remain in our hearts forever."
