Who are you taking advice from?

Most people have good intentions, and they just want to help

But that doesn’t mean they can help solve your dog’s issues, in fact, they may just make them worse 🫣

ESPECIALLY when the problem is bigger than you can handle (and is potentially dangerous)

At that point, you need professional advice

You wouldn’t take medical advice from your plumber, so don’t take dog advice from anyone but an expert

Let’s talk fire plans and safety…

Today our fire plan was tested here at the LSSK9 residence. We were all enjoying our morning until every fire alarm went off in the house. Thankfully our mom was home, and sprung into action getting all 6 of us out the door and secure. There was no visible fire, but the smell of smoke would come and go. Mom checked every obvious location a fire could start with an extinguisher, no fire and no visible smoke, but kept continued to get puffs of smoke smell. all while trying to get in contact with 911.

Of course an emergency like this would happen when phone lines are down… thankfully mom was able to get through to them pretty quickly! The fire department sprang into action and checked every inch inside and out of the house. They aren’t sure what caused it but every test came back normal… Thankfully. We are incredibly grateful for the men and women who worked diligently today, ensuring our home is safe.

We all have different fire and exit plans but it’s very important to have one because you never know when you will need to use it.

Here at LSSK9, we know all exits of our home and kennel facility. We have extinguishers easily accessible. We have kennels ready to go to get dogs out if we’re safely able to do so. Our priority is keeping every human and dog safe and healthy.

These young handlers have a bright future ✨💫

Tessa and Maggie, are 6 month old Great Pyrenees who just graduated our 6 week on & off leash board and train program!

We spent yesterday teaching the boys how to train their dogs and help set everyone up for success! We are so proud of these teams and cannot wait for their pupdates!

We LOVE taking dogs to the Farmers Market. You really never know what you’re going to get, and that’s makes it the ideal training situation to help dogs get used to “real life” struggles they will see with their owners.

This is something you may have to work up to with your dog, and that’s perfectly okay! If you would like to have your dog be outing-ready but don’t know where to start, send us a DM and we can talk about what training plan might be best suited to your pup. 🐶

One of our favorite things to do at LSSK9 is run dogs through our confidence course! ⭐️

By building up their confidence, you help your dog experience less stress with the outside world and more prepared to handle any situation thrown their way. However, this isn’t a “quick fix” to this. It takes time and exposure.

You can help build your dogs confidence up by setting up an obstacle course similar to this in your home! A variety of noises, textures, and objects help to desensitize them. The best part? It mentally tires them out too and can be a great way to make meal time interesting. 🐶

Nicole has owned dogs her whole life and has always had a love for them. She began working with dogs in 2018 and knew it was her passion to make a career out of it. She has 3 personal dogs Jack, Apollo and Buddy who have all showed her different behaviors and taught her along the way how to be a better handler. Her next dog will be German Shepherd who she hopes to do PSA with. Outside of work, she likes to hangout with her boyfriend, attending his boxing matches and visiting car shows/meets.

We are excited to have Nicole join us! She will be taking on the role of Kennel Tech, and is already a great fit.
