PSA: Not every dog wants to say hello 📣
It’s frustrating when people assume they can approach your dog without asking.
Friendly or not, it’s a big NO from us sometimes—and here’s why:
🐕 We could be in the middle of a training session.
🐕 My dog might not feel well or need space.
🐕 Not every dog (or person!) is comfortable with random encounters.
Instead, here’s how to handle it:
✅ ASK first: “Can we say hi?”
✅ Respect the answer—even if it’s no.
✅ Redirect your dog if needed.
Dogs, like people, have boundaries.
Let’s all be mindful of body language and create a safe space for everyone!

5 things your puppy needs to know!

You're always training your dog, even when you don't realize it!
Take a look at these examples...
Most of us fail at number 4 😉
1. Your dog is barking to go outside
You can either A) give in and teach them that barking is how they get what they want, or 😎 you can ignore the behavior and allow them to go out a little while after they stop barking
2. Your schedule
Just getting up and walking your dog at the same time, letting them go potty at the same time, and feeding at the same time is building consistency and helping your dog understand their day to day (and behave better too!)
3. Accidental positive reinforcement
If a dog jumps on a guest to greet them, and the guest laughs or reacts positively, the dog might interpret this as a reward for their behavior. This can lead to unwanted jumping behavior.
4. Puppy dog eyes
When a dog gives those adorable puppy dog eyes while begging for food, we often give in and reward them with some food or attention. This unintentionally reinforces the behavior, making it more likely to occur in the future.
5. Socializing
When we allow our dogs to interact with other dogs and people, we are teaching them social skills. They learn how to behave appropriately around others, how to read social cues, and how to resolve conflicts peacefully. This is a training moment too!

This is a really dangerous behavior because it can lead to people getting hurt, dogs running away, getting hit by cars, and so many other things

Do your research!
Different breeds come with their own traits and qwerks, so you need to be sure you're getting a dog that is suitable for your lifestyle
Think about:
Size
Energy levels
Genetic traits
Family-compatibilty
Pet-compatibility
And so much more
ALSO: don't forget to research the breeder! 👀
Just because they make for a cute puppy, doesn't mean you're going to be ready for them once they're fully grown 🐾

Yes, they're cute and fluffy, and sometimes the urge to pet them can be overwhelming, but that's not cool.
Would you be okay with some stranger strolling right up to you in the street, reaching out a hand and asking if they can stroke your hair?
Probably not - let's not do it to dogs either ❌
PLUS, there's lots of dogs with anxiety, reactivity, and those in training who are not good to simply approach
Just because we have dogs, know dogs, and love dogs, doesn't give us the right to handle every other dog as we please
