It is almost time to get those mud puddles ready. This is a typical mud puddle my son used to dig for our pigs.

Mud plays an essential role in the lives of KuneKune pigs! Like many others, these pigs use mud as a natural way to cool themselves down and protect their skin. Since pigs don’t sweat, rolling in mud helps regulate their body temperature, especially in warmer weather.

Mud also acts as a natural sunscreen and insect repellent, shielding their sensitive skin from sunburn and pesky bugs. Additionally, wallowing in mud is enjoyable for pigs and contributes to their overall well-being. It’s a practical and instinctive behavior for these delightful animals.
