Turkey Creek Gaits offers proven pleasure gaited horses for sale or trade by an experienced horseman & owner. We specialize in gaited horses. My name is Kelsey.

I am an experienced horseman and rider. I have been riding horses since I was a kid and have grown up around horses all my life. My father has over 50 years experience with horses and 30 of those years were with gaited horses. I buy and sell gaited horses (preferably, although at times, I do sell the non-gaited horse). I purchase already broke horses and give them a tune up, work on their gaits an

d put miles on them in the saddle. I find out their quirks and work on them. Not all horses are quirk free when they are sold, but I am sure to make their quirks known at time of interest. I love working with horses. I am not a professional trainer, nor do I specifically focus on a particular gait. I make sure the horses I work with are smooth (no pacing) and safe. When they are something I am proud to put my name on, I offer them to the public. I am honest about my horses and I will not lose my integrity over a horse sale. Little Blue Man decided to throw some temper tantrums while he was tied today. He managed to step through a calf halter and create a Broadway production about it. So, me enjoying Theatre as much as I do, added to his drama. Leads to drag, plastic feed bags to wear, a lead tied to his leg to drag. We walked down the drive to our other pasture all by ourselves, with Momma having her own Broadway scene back home. I’m super proud of this c**t today. I’m excited to see what he chooses to retain tomorrow 😉

Our stately blue roan stud c**t, TCG STUNTMAN’S WORKIN MAN. He had a day FULL of learning today. He made it clear his least favorite was standing tied. He loaded in a trailer and backed out on his own with little persuasion, picked up trash on the side of the road, dropped it in the dumpster, drug lead ropes from his halter and leg, and wore a noisy plastic feed bag all while performing our community service.

I decided to body clip Lucille’s coat to get rid of the moldy bread look and really allow her beautiful chestnut roan coloring to shine through. She took it like a champ!! She really only tried to pitch a fit because of being impatient/bored with standing tied for “soooo long”. She’s truly going to be absolutely stunning!!

We are so blessed to have our friend Elle halter training our foals. She has a patience with them that I wish I had! She truly has a very special gift and way of communicating with these babies who really want to be 1/2 feral, but Elle makes that really hard for them to be! She truly has a special gift!!

All our babies spent some time getting some desensitization and halter training today. Even though Lucille looks like a moldy slice of bread while she sheds off her foal coat, she has a BEAUTIFUL presence and her dark chestnut coat is going to be incredible.

TWHBEA Blue Roan Stud C**t!! Possibly homozygous

Yesterday early morning in the middle of an absolute down pour, we discovered a stunning and perfect blue roan stud c**t. He will be available upon weaning and he is projected to be well over 16 hands. Jazz is known to throw tall, tall babies when crossed with a tall stud. Her last blue babies matured to be 16.2. This is the type of horse you dream about. Jazz’s foals are consistently smart, sensible and easy to train. This c**t holds a very high possibility of being homozygous roan.

Jazz had us fooled last night. Her pH tanked and she was restless and her belly seemed to be irritating her. Today, her pH has jumped back up. She was about a 6.2-6.4 pH last night. You win again, Jazzy. Day 4 past due

We are certainly very grateful for the rain we have been getting! What Lucille is also certain of are the alligators and crocodiles that are DEFINITELY living in this puddle.

Jazz is in the last (what I believe) the last week of her pregnancy. It’s pretty hot here today, so I hosed her down with some chilling well water and this was her reply. Thanks, ‘Potamous

Rack on, Gus!

Here’s a video showing off Gus’ go-to gaits. The first part of the video, he has a very nice slow rack. The video then transitions to his faster rack, which is an absolute blast and as you can tell from the video, even and smooth as can be. You should also notice he’s on a fairly loose rein, just maintaining slight contact with his bit, which, by the way, is a simple Myler snaffle bit. That’s absolutely something to brag on! Talk about a WELL gaited horse and one that’s very set in his gait. Oh, I forgot to mention, this was my first ride on him almost 3 years and his first ride in almost a year. For those who may be concerned, we didn’t stay in this high gear long on the road. The road provides those wonderful pucka-pucka sounds!

Getting Close!! Last Chance to Get Your Foal Guesses In!!!

Our sweet girl, Doodles is so close to foaling!!!!! She’s got a booty full of Jello now!!! I bet either tonight or Wednesday (storms those evenings). Her pH has dropped as well! We are hoping for a bay roan stud colt! (Foal is guaranteed roan)

Bred for Brains

I don’t brag on these girls enough and the incredible minds they give their foals. Tuesday is a 2020 baby from our mare, Jazz. Today, she received her first hair cut with clippers. They were a little scary at first, but after about 20 seconds of running the clippers on her neck, she quickly accepted the clippers and by the end of the session, she was droopy eyed and relaxed. Her half sister was just as easy to trim for her first time as well. From a very young age, Tuesday always was quick to learn a skill like giving her feet, loading in a trailer, halter breaking. She loaded and backed out of a dark, two horse straight load trailer on her first attempt with no argument. She was an absolute breeze to break to ride and she also has experience working cattle and calves, which took place during her 90 days of training. If you are wanting a foal that makes the training process a breeze, you better keep an eye out for Jazz and Tuesday’s foals due in a couple months. These foals will have beauty AND plenty of brains and retain their training so well!

Udder Scratches

Our first time pregnant Momma, Tuesday discovered that udder scratches might be the best thing on the planet…. Besides sweet grain, of course.

Dinner time for the girls! I dump their grain in the round bale to encourage eating the bale as well and Mabel was NOT playing around tonight.
