✨✨I guess i have to edit to say… I DID bring Mardi home right after seeing him at the trainers. Crazy to think people believe i left him there. Secondly…his condition was not due to ulcers. He was neglected people.. I would not have made this post if my horse just got ulcers from training and lost weight.😅 i understand that horses, especially young ones, get stressed from training and get ulcers and drop weight. Apparently i should have posted EVERYTHING for there to be no questions but i didnt think i needed to share all that my horse went through for the picture to be painted quite clearly as shown in the pictures.
I have debated posting this for some time..but with mardi being far healthier now, i feel its okay.
Pics 1&2 are 13 days after I dropped Mardi off at training, April 23rd. He was looking so good, losing some baby fat and gaining more muscle. I was stoked.
Pics 3&4 are from May 23rd. He was skinny. He was losing muscle. He was filthy. I was so mad..he wasnt even acting like his goofy self. The trainer claimed he had rode him almost 15 times in a short NINE days from his first ride. His grain had barely been touched, and he was being fed some very not good quality hay with a clearly less than sufficient quantity. I wont go into much more detail other than that.
Pic 5, 2 days after seeing him at the trainers. I cleaned him up the best i could without washing him before the weather hit.
Pics 6 through 9 were June 23rd. A month after seeing my poor boy. Hes back to filling out, gaining more weight and more muscle. Hes back to his goofy self. But most importantly hes healthy again.
Being someone who has trained her own horses as well as others, I will never bash on another trainer without knowing the full story. The intent of this isnt to drag this trainers name through the mud, but to be an eye opener. If your trainer is not giving you updates, not responding when you ask for one, or you feel the trainer isnt giving you honest answers…trust your gut. Unfortunately for me, i trusted my gut but Mardi was a bit of a drive from me so getting out to see him was a little harder than i would have liked. I feel lied to, cheated, and so disappointed. I trusted someone for the first time ever to start one of my horses and this was sadly the outcome i wasnt expecting. But after all of that, my boy is healthy and fat and happy again. He will be continuing his training soon🫶🏼
