If you’ve been waiting for that dog—the one with grit, heart, and the kind of try you can’t teach—meet Hammer, our handsome red-and-white Border Collie boy! At just about a year old and roughly 40 lbs, this young ranch-ready fella is already showing the makings of a true partner. 🤠💪

Hammer may be green on commands, but don’t let that fool you—this boy has instinct for days. He’ll trail cattle sun-up to sun-down without quitting, and he’s built for big pastures, real work, and wide-open country. If you want drive, you’ll find it here.

But Hammer isn’t all hustle. 🧡
This thoughtful guy is gentle, kind, and a little timid at first—no aggression, no excessive nipping, just a dog who studies the world before diving in. Once he decides you’re his person? He’ll bond hard and steady. The kind of quiet loyalty that sticks with you through every gate, every ride, every mile of fenceline.

✨ Hammer is the dog who grows with you, works with heart, and stays by your side—for life. ✨

We prefer he go to a working or ranch-type home, where his natural talent can shine. Hammer still needs to be neutered and brought up to date on vaccinations, but ask us about FOSTER-TO-ADOPT if you’d like to try him out and see if he fits your lifestyle!

Has not been tested with cats, seems to get along well with other dogs.

🚀✨ MEET GUSE — our 102-lb overgrown puppy looking for his perfect match! ✨🚀

***Guse was neutered yesterday - and is ready to go home!***

Rottweiler x Great Dane | ~2 years old | 102 pounds of pure goofy joy

Y’all… this dog is basically a walking cartoon character. Big head, big heart, big energy — and absolutely no clue how giant he actually is. 🤣💛

Guse came to us as a surrender and is now on the hunt for a committed, active home that can give him the structure, training, and enrichment he CRAVES. This boy wants to learn, wants to work, and wants to love his people so much — he just needs guidance to grow into the rock-solid adult dog we know he can be. 💪🐾

💡 A few things to know about big Goose:

🦴 He’s 102 lbs and still thinks he’s lap-puppy sized
🏃‍♂️ Energetic, playful, silly, and SO affectionate
👶 Not recommended for homes with small children — he gets too excited and may nip in play
🐕 Dog-selective (meet-and-greets required!)
🐈 Okay with some cats
🐄 Not tested with livestock or small animals yet
🎓 Needs training + positive reinforcement — he’s eager, just needs structure!
🗓️ Neuter surgery scheduled & he’ll be fully vaccinated and ready to go HOME this week!

This handsome moose is still just a youngster, which means you’ve got YEARS ahead of you to turn him into the best adventure buddy, couch companion, and loyal partner. ❤️🐾

🐾 December 2 is Giving Tuesday ~ and Beaverhead Animal Shelter Need You! 🐾

Giving Tuesday, we’re asking our community to stand with us as we continue rebuilding and revitalizing Beaverhead Animal Shelter.
We’ve worked hard to turn this shelter around — removing years of waste, creating a dedicated kitten room, enriching our big cat room, reviving our surgery space, and giving every animal a cleaner, safer, more comforting place to stay.

But we’re not done yet.

Continue to restore our original surgery room so we can resume spay/neuter clinics

ADOPTED!!

🐾 Meet Winnie — Our Little Comeback Kid! 🐾

Sweet Winnie came to Beaverhead Animal Shelter in very rough shape—skinny, scared, and unsure of the world. But with a little TLC (okay… a lot of TLC 💛), this shepherd-cross mutt pup is blossoming right before our eyes. She seems to be ok with other dogs and unsure about cats still. Has shown affection and not aggression towards children.

At roughly 20 lbs now, Winnie is still growing. Since her exact breed mix is a mystery, we aren’t sure what her mature weight will be—but we do know she’s going to grow into one incredible companion. She is nearly 7 months old. 🌟

Winnie is gentle, affectionate, and soaking up every bit of love she can get. She’s ready for a family who will help her continue building confidence, keep her healthy, and show her what a real home feels like.

🌟 HAPPY TAILS: ASTRID 🌟
✨ After months of waiting, hoping, and quietly rooting for her perfect match… Astrid’s forever family finally walked through our doors. And oh boy, this sweet girl knew. Her whole face lit up, her tail did that excited helicopter spin, and she leaned right into her new people like she’d been theirs all along. 💕
Astrid came to us with such a gentle soul—soft eyes, a cautious heart, and a whole lot of love ready for the right home. She patiently watched other pets get adopted, she sat for treats with that polite little wiggle of hers, and she greeted every visitor like maybe they were “the one.”
And now?
She got her dream.
A cozy home.
A family who absolutely adores her.
A fresh start and a lifetime of cuddles ahead. 🏡🤍
We’re so proud of you, Astrid. Thank you for letting us be part of your journey, sweet girl. You’ve left some pawprints on our hearts, and we cannot wait to see all the happy adventures that are coming your way. 🌈🐶✨

We’ve had a handsome mystery gentleman brought to our attention from the Lover’s Leap area! This brown tabby, weighing in at just over 12 lbs, appears to be a neutered male. Sweet, calm, and clearly used to people — someone has to be missing this guy. ❤️🐾
