After week got a good ride in. 3 more weeks to fine tune some issues.
First Ride Today on this Mr Tee Red 2yr old. Double Hocker Ranch, Spent this past week on the ground sacking out and ground driving. The mare acted like she’s been doing it all along, nice and relaxed. She was handled before she got here and made the process a little easier. I got another 3 weeks to get some good rides in before she goes home!
2yr old Gelding
About 30 rides with this Mr Tee Red Gelding, Halter broke him around Christmas and he’s getting with the program now!
I’m taking this guy home today. Today was his last ride here and I wanted to see how he would act with another rider on his back. For the people that didn’t see this horse before he had a bad habit of bucking at the lope.
This past week has been the best rides he has had since he’s been here. Big shout out to Liz Green for bringing me her daughter and future Trainer Maya over to let me see how he’d react with a different rider! Thanks Maya!
Nearly 2 weeks after working with this Gelding we almost have a consistent speed and almost have gotten rid of the stubbornness and the buck at the lope. He’s not perfect but he’s come along way in 10 days.
Waiting for the nice weather to get him outside!
This is the first ride since he’s been here. Worked on the ground for 3 days teaching him what I wanted before I got in the saddle. Once we started getting into the lope it was easier then day 1. No buck or run off. Not bad for only 4 days of work. Making him understand the simplest commands on the ground helps in the saddle. Long way to go but every ride will get better!
6 rides on this 2 yr old mare, she has been getting better every ride!
After a week of ground work and getting this 2 yr old mare quiet, my son Jett was able to be the first rider. Something I did a lot when I was a kid at the same age with Jbars Ranch. The mare was super quiet and relaxed.
After we got done Jett told me
“ Well that was easy “😂
Had a good week at the Pitzer Fall Sale.
Sold this mare to a couple from Florida and I’m bringing her back home with me to put additional 60 days of training on her for them. Thanks to Double Hocker Ranch for letting me start this mare and bring her up to the sale. She’ll be going to a good home!
After 2 weeks with this yearling Gelding he’s come a long way. He learn to lead like a gentleman and to pick up all four feet with ease. It took a good solid week to get him sacked out and learning to stay still when told. So we moved on and today was a big step for him. Put a bit in his mouth and put a pad on. We got it done today with no exciting jumps over my head or any buck. He needs a couple more days of fine tuning and then we’ll start to put the driving reins on.
Every horse is different, some horses take to things faster, some need more time. It took longer than I expected but with every step he took was with no problems and he won’t have any holes to fix when he comes back next year to ride!
Teaching this Mr Tee Red - 3yr old Mare to get use to throwing a rope. Id say she’s ok with it so far!!
The past 2 weeks he’s really slowed down at the trot and starting to level his head set. The next 2 weeks he’s here he will be even better when it’s time to send him home.
Had most of the horses inside for a couple days cause of the weather.. From their reaction I think they needed out!
