I LOVE Wild Flowers and all the Butterflies and Bugs they attract. So pretty and so beneficial. I'm very happy that I can own enough land to let them grow wild and not be "ate down" or mowed down or worst of all, Sprayed with w**d killer!!!

I did an experiment yesterday evening since so many people still believe that hosing a cow down will trap the heat in and actually cause them to get warmer. New research shows this isn’t how it works, but I thought I would do a personal test.
According to my weather app, it was 88F with the humidity making it feel like 96F. (Sadly a little cooler than it has been lately). Wind speed was 2 mph, and Johann was in the sun for this.
I used Johann because the heat affects him the most, and he’s good about having his temperature taken. And I didn’t have time to go through all this with the other two boys.
Johann’s starting body temperature (taken rectally) was 103.5. (Heat stressed).
After 5 minutes of hosing (just long enough to get both sides once), it was 103.1.
After 10 minutes of hosing, his temp was 103.1.
Then I stopped hosing him and didn’t do anything else. I did not scrap off excess water. Also I did not spray any water anywhere near his re**um.
After 5 minutes his temp was 102.4.
After 10 minutes his temp was 102.0.
I brought his body temp down a whole degree and a half in 20 minutes!
I did not continue due to time and him already having to be probed 5 times.

Miniature Jersey (Yearling) Bull - 14David.

He's breeding some of my cows now, but he's gonna' need new pasture sometime in August.

He is A2/A2 & he is Homozygous Polled.

Sired by my bull, 4Arthur and out my cow, DW Summer.

He's just a little bit leggier than "I" like (many people like them taller), but he's got alot of small size in his pedigree.
