2 doelings are doing great! We rehomed the buckling so they are happy not sharing milk anymore!

An update on the broody chicken and her babies! They've been having a blast running around with her!
We now also have 4 other broody hens lol.

Got blessed by Jolene with triplets! 2 doelings and a buckling!
They was born the week the eclipse happened so we gave them eclipse names
Prominence - the red blotches you could see during the eclipse from solar flares.
Umbre - scientific term for the shadow cast on earth during the eclipse.
Sand - after sand cave where we was to watch the eclipse.
We will be keeping all 3! We will raise the 2 girls to breed ourselves and the boy will get weathered and processed for our family!

Been a while since any updates, my bad.
Spring has finally happened around the homestead!
A hen went broody and we decided to have her sit on 3 goose eggs. Once they hatched out we pulled them to raise them in a better manner for waterfowl.
She's being an amazing mother to 6 chick's though that we picked up!
Will be updated more soon! Got a goat and rabbit due soon! 4 broody geese and 2 silkies going broody! Not including 2 incubators that are full!

So a month ago, we was watching a duck of ours go broader on her eggs, unfortunately after a week we candler them and no growth at all. We decided to stick a few peafowl eggs under her if she was already broody. Checked today and she has 5 peachicks! Unfortunately we'll be pulling them as they will need to be away from the ground for the first bit of their life. Super excited to have peachicks though!

Got a few new rabbit litters born this week! Our D'Argents, 10 kits. Then we didn't seperate out grow out pen and waited to long to process so we knoticed a lot of fur flying and the looks of a nest. Pulled the 3 girls and out into a hutch together, a few mistakes for their first time but there 17 kits in the big pile of them!

These 2 boys are doing amazing! Recently had to pull them from the doe pen as they hit their bucking stage, now on a bottle until they are weaned. Good news, we are milking mama out and going to start collecting milk for ourselves in a few days!

These 2 buckling are so cute, even if they are damaged raised they still come up for pets.

Got out the last 2 afternoons once it started to cool down to plant some new trees and bushes!
For our orchard we added a pear, apple, and pecan tree.
Next is 2 small white pine trees that went infront of the pig pen soon to be grow out buckling pen.
For bushes we added 3 new oak leaf hydrangeas to the front yard and showed off the 2 we planted 2 years ago.
Last we replaced a burning bush from 2 years ago because our male dog decided that was his favorite Bush. The culprit is in the shot as well.
We'll be fencing in the orchard next week to keep the goats from destroying the new trees after they ate up all the low hanging branches from the other adult trees. Then throwing a small bit of wire around the bushes so the dogs won't be killing them off as easily.

It has been a long week! I'll post more of the goat kids next time. Rn we have a lot of eggs in the incubator! We have another ment to hatch out the batches once time. We just pulled 10 BBS marans out and put with the week old silkies. More quail hatching next week and then 1 batch of goose eggs. Our first 2 batches didn't go the best assuming because we didn't get humidity right or it's our goose first laying season so some just didn't quit make it to hatch out. Rn we aren't adding any more eggs to the incubator until summertime. We have 2 seperate day old chick's order coming in in the next month, with all these eggs hatching...well have our hands full with all the babies.
We decided to replenish our chicken and ducks this year with better quality birds and try out a few new breeds. Might not decide with colored egg layers a certain breed and might have a rainbow egg layer coop.

Came home after work and she had just finished cleaning these boys up! They've both drank some and she's passed the placenta. All good, now to check up on them every bit to make sure they are doing good.
So happy to have the first goat birth on the homestead go smoothly!

Mya is showing today might be the day! She filled up yesterday and her belly has dropped. We’ll have been checking in every few hours, will update with new baby goat pics when it happens!

Mya is due on Saturday! I've started taking pictures of her udder. Yesterday picture is on the left, today's on the right.
Well be maker her a milking station this week!

More goslings!

And then there was a flock. Traveled this week to pick up 3 more sebastapol goslings! We can't wait for these guys to grow up ans start feathering like our 2 older ones!

Monty's ducks

Monty came out of quarantine and the other chickens didn't like him so we had to put him with some less mean brids. Luckily these duckling got attached and follow him around now!
