My heart is so happy β€οΈβ€οΈ
About a month ago I shared that one of my girls, Nora, was looking for a new home. She had passed all her health testing, but earlier this year she tore her cruciate ligament. CCL tears are one of those frustrating gray areas. No one can seem to fully agree if theyβre genetic, environmental, or (as I suspect) the perfect storm of both. She tore hers at such a young age without any big accident, and I just wasnβt willing to take the risk of breeding her.
Letting dogs go is always hard, especially when so much of my heart has gone into them. I truly love all of them, but I know some are better suited living in homes that arenβt mine. I have to make sure the dogs that canβt work for me go to homes that will be just as good or better. Itβs scary, because people can say and promise all the right things and then do the opposite. But when the right match comes along, there really isnβt much greater joy.
I had a lot of wonderful applications, but one family stood out right away. During the phone interview, I really appreciated all of the thoughtful questions and considerations they had before bringing a new dog into their home. They were prepared for any challenges that might come up and were excited about helping Nora adjust to her new life. On top of that, they have a very long-standing relationship with their veterinarian and already had a professional dog trainer on standby should the need arise. They also already have another dog (bonus points for the dog being a Labrador), and they live just five minutes from the beach.π
Yesterday they flew up from Huntington Beach to meet Nora at our ranch. After a brief interaction it was very clear this was the right choic. They made the 7.5 made the drive home with Nora Dora. Itβs been a little over 24 hours, but I think itβs safe to say sheβs found her people.
Thank you for giving this sweet girl the best life.
