Good morning,
I chatted with a client yesterday who brought up a mysterious dog virus that has been making its way around parts of the country. I had not heard of anything but I researched and as far as I can tell it has not hit NY and I have NOT received reports of any of our fur friends getting it (seems to be west coast for now and as it’s the holidays and people travel I figured I’d try to put awareness out there).

It IS an airborne virus and it’s always a risk when dogs get together. In the salon we keep non-household pups separated and we sanitize between pups.
Outside of the salon, be mindful of your pup’s interaction with other dogs ( dogs parks, daycares, boarding, water bowls, etc).

With that being said, we ask that all pups be picked up promptly after their grooming session has been completed. We will give a 10 min “heads up” text so you can start to head over.

If your pup has been boarded in a facility within the last 2 weeks, I ask you to wait to come in for an appointment until you are sure they don’t become sick.

If your pup or any pup that your pup has had contact with has shown any respiratory symptoms including cough, runny nose, congestion, fever or not acting themselves, I ask that you reschedule and get a vet clearance.

Please note I will continue to stay on top of this until this virus passes. Your pup’s health and safety is my top priority!

The illness can include a cough, fever, lethargy and a loss of appetite. Veterinarians recommend that owners avoid boarding their dog if it shows symptoms.
