We got a beautiful update from Joe about Tucker's summer adventures! It's a bit of a read, but so amazing to hear all about what the two have been up to this past summer!
Tucker is from Piper and Theo's Saint Patrick's Day litter 2018.
It's been too long since I last updated you on my best friend, Tucker! It was a fun summer and saw Tucker learn and experience many new things! Tucker loves his visits to the dog park where he has many new friends, both human and pup. Once the temperatures started rising I would wake up at 5 AM and after some coffee we would go to the park so Tucker could have fun before it got too warm. Well after a couple of days Tucker figured out this event! At 5 he would put his cold nose on my face to let me know it was time! I would let him out for a little and then he would scratch at the door to come in! If I fell back to sleep he would wake me again! So off we would go and his joy at running with his play pals it all was very fulfilling, and I am not a morning person! Another fun day, a local swimming pool was closing for some repairs, they had a paws in the pool morning so people could bring their dogs for swimming. I figured, Tucker being the water dog he is would love it. There were many dogs jumping in and out of the pool, there were booths with information and music playing. Many people saw Tucker and knowing the newfie swimming skills were all waiting to see him swim. Well, the water was the last thing he was interested in! Tucker roamed the pool area greeting all the people and their dogs, he visited booths and once he found the booths that had treats he found his favorite place, let the others swim! I bought him a life vest as it is recommended. I put it on him thinking he would then feel comfortable with the water. Well he hated the vest, he turned from me and went and sat next to a little old lady and she petted him. I had to remove the jacket before he would come over to me!! We stayed the entire 3 hours and Tucker was happy visiting! We are going to a pool in Tucson that has a pool just for dogs and we will see if he likes water. OK if he doesn't! Tucker is still lean and muscular, he loves to run at the park, never thought he would run so fast and be so graceful. He still weighs 110, vet is happy, totally healthy she says. I am happy with that but with Theo being large and he being the large pup I thought he would weigh more. He is breed standard in height at the shoulder and I will take a healthy 110 pounds! I still think he will fill out more but he is perfect to me. Therapy training is on hold at the moment as I wait for him to mature a bit more. He is good with commands and when we go to farmer's markets he is the hit of the event! Perfect manners! I hear a lot, oh he's a great Pyrenees or st Bernard! When I tell them newfoundland then I educate them about the great breed that they are. I hope everything is going well for you and the family and that Theo and Piper are doing well. I still want to drive to Colorado one day in spring and I'll take the long route so hopefully you can allow me to stop in. I hope you are hearing from all Tucker's siblings, if there is any news you can share please do. I also would welcome any contact that Tucker's siblings owners might want to do. Three photos show Tucker and his play pal, Sid, and one showing his sweet face as he tries to read my mind! Take care and have a great holiday season.
