Many ask me all the time why Gizzards isnt adoptable. Heβs cute, but I think heβs Satan in disguise. Lol. I had to go out of town for a couple of days. Gizzy spent most of his time trying to attack my husband and daughter if they got anywhere near him. Now, this is the same hubby and daughter he normally loves to death!!! He freaks out when Iβm not around and wants to eat everyone π€¦π»ββοΈ This is exactly why he is a lifer at the rescue. Heβs a liability. He better be glad I love him!!! lol. He also destroyed his toy (as you can see on the couch.) Thatβs not something he normally does!
Miss Moxie and the other pups enjoying being outside before it gets too hot. πΎβ€οΈπΎ
Looks like Gizzards is feeling better after having his mouth stitched up. π Heβs been really lonely without Skippy π so heβs living it up inside with us. (Sorry about no sound. There was music playing in the background so Facebook muted it π)
Gizzards sure enjoyed his afternoon stroll on the golf cart πΎβ€οΈ. If only someone was patient and brave enough to adopt him and his rotten attitude π©. This dog can be sooooo sweet when he wants to be. The problem is, most times, he doesnβt want to be πππ
Sweet Alice. She can always find the energy to jump for a treat π€β€οΈπΎ #fightingcancer #hospice
These twoπππ. They both like to have the last word. Lol. This goes on nonstop πππ
The 3 stooges ..... Bunny, Mike, and Skippy ππ
It's been a year and 7 mos since Moxie came to Love Me Furever Dog Rescue completely feral and terrified of everything. Even tho she still is feral to an extent, she has come so far!!! For now, she's happy and that's what matters the most.
The installation of the dog door is a success! Rosie, Peter Pan and Gizzy caught on right away. Our poor sweet Skippy is a little slower, but he's getting there. Now they can come and go as they please 24/7 thanks to the hubby πΎπΎπΎπΎ. Happy Pups!!!!
Skippy is enjoying a back rub on this beautiful day π
Moxie update:
It's so hard to get videos of Moxie just bc she shuts down when I get out the camera. Here's a little clip of her following me outside to her kennel this morning. She's changed in so many ways. Even though she's still semi feral, her personality has blossomed. She is a very energetic and playful girl. Her favorite thing to do is play with my lab, Teal. They are best buds. Teal has shown her how to be a normal dog and has been so good for her. They play for hours! Moxie has definitely found her voice! She barks her protective bark when someone new comes around and barks her playful bark when she sees the kids playing outside. She's constantly wagging her tail and playing with toys. She is definitely not the same dog that she was when she came here. I'm still not sure if she'll ever be adoptable, but she is definitely improving every day. Right now she has a little eye infection we are treating in her left eye. Other than that, she is doing amazing.
Spent all day rearranging the inside of the rescue to fit an old couch for Alice. At first we thought we would have to build her a ramp but I forgot I had just mopped. Lol. The floor was still wet. She gets up and down just fine now that the floor has dried. I want the rescue to feel as much like a real home for her as possible during her last bit of time with us. Today was a really good day for her. As long as she continues to have more good days than bad, we will continue to spoil her until it's time. It's safe to say, she LOVES her couch!!! #hospice #ihatecancer #Alice
Doing some much needed deep cleaning at the rescue today. Couldn't ask for better help than Alice!!! She's having a good day today β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Here's a short clip of Peter Pan getting familiar with the rescue. AND DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!! Gizzy is NOT normally this sweet πππ I think he's jealous of Peter Pan.
J Lo is so full of spunk. She is an 8 yr old schnauzer mix weighing 30lbs. She ended up at Cara's House (the local shelter) after the flood in August. Upon examination of her, it was clear she had not had an easy life. She was definitely not in the best shape. It was then that Cara's House sent her to the vet I work at (Cypress Lake Animal Hospital) to be treated. She entered our clinic on August 23rd. She had bladder stones that had to be removed so she went to surgery. After a lifetime of untreated, raging UTIs, J Lo ended up having multiple surgeries and ended up fighting for her life. She was very opinionated and not the easiest of patients for our staff to handle. ππ But for some reason, she and I just clicked. Everyday that I went into work, I was afraid she may not have made it thru the night or that she would have to be humanely euthanized to end her suffering. She could not urinate on her own without a urinary catheter. I'm so glad I work for a stubborn doctor that doesn't give up. Dr Kristen Kullinski continually gave it her all for over 2 months to try everything possible to save her. After multiple surgeries, on October 20, 2 mos and 3 days after she was admitted to the hospital, J Lo came home to the rescue with me. It was a trial to see if she could go the weekend without having to be catherterized. If she could not, euthanasia was the only humane way to end her suffering. Well, needless to say, thanks to the hard work and determination of Dr Kullinski, J Lo is thriving!!!!! She has to remain on a very STRICT, special diet for the rest of her life. And bc she had so many horrible UTI's that went untreated her whole life, she will always get them randomly. But with a round of antibiotics, she's good to go. This girl has the most heart I've seen in a dog that has been thru all she has. She amazes me every day. She deserves the BEST life possible. If you think you can give that to her, please contact me. I will not settle for less than the best for J Lo.
As most of you know, Alice was diagnosed with a very aggressive type of cancer and was placed on Hospice back in January 2016. She was given an estimated 4-6 mos to live. Because she had so little time left, Alice got whatever treats she wanted. Heck, she's on Hospice...she gets WHATEVER she wants. After all, that's what hospice time is for. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem, BUT............our sweet Alice is still going strong almost 10 months later!!!!! So, now I have a very, very FAT Alice on my hands ππ HAPPY, BUT FAT!!!! At this point, we truly just have NO IDEA how long she has. She has defied all odds up to this point. But, regardless of how long she may or may not have, She has forced my hand. I can't take the chance of her knees blowing out trying to support all that extra "fluff"!!!! Alice has been placed on a daily diet and treats are not a part of it. (She does get extra special loving to make up for the lack of treats tho!) She's definitely taking it better than I thought she would. (If you don't count the first few days of treat withdrawals ππ). This video shows her getting two small treats for the first time in 2 weeks. She was a very happy girl. Never thought she'd still be around after all this time. This girl loves life and is such a fighter.
