It is my absolute pleasure to announce we have produced our FIRST Chahoua baby EVER! It's sibling is still getting ready for its big debut but this little one decided to make its appearance yesterday! I just couldn't wait to share any longer! Mom & Dad pictured last. This little ones got some amazing white coverage and it will be very interesting to see how it turns out!!

We had SO much fun at the Tinley Park show this weekend! It was certainly a blur most of the time! I barely got any pictures of the show itself but here's a handful!

I can't believe the amazing turnout for the auction, too! You guys are seriously amazing!! We raised a total of just over $105k for some seriously amazing Conservation and to help those affected by the Hurricanes on the East Coast. also had a fund raiser to help further the education of those interested in Exotics medicine, too! How cool is that?
There was another fundraiser to help the family of the late Chad Grey that raised $7,000 itself.
I'm so proud of this amazing community for stepping up to help those in need 💚

Can't wait to see everyone in St Louis for the NARBC show November 8-10th! (The 8th is VIP ONLY during vendor setup!)

I will have around 10 Audax Jumping Spiders with me for the show! Most still have 2-3 molts before adulthood! I will also have a handful of Enclosures I've made up. I'll be bringing dried Acorn hides and small misters for them as well!

Omega will always have a home with me! I produced him 3.5 years ago, and a temperature fluctuation during incubation caused him to have the Eye and Tail Deformity. Typically, with deformity also comes interesting coloration and pattern. He is expressing that as well! His White is slowly turning pink/peach as he matures, too! I just think his eye is absolutely fascinating to look at. He has full range of motion, and I see him "looking" around with the eye. However, the pupil never changes dilation (with changes in light.)
He is an absolute sweet heart allthough he squeaks at me alot!

I actually like to share things like this, as breeding is not all sunshine and rainbows! I find deformities in hatchlings to be very interesting, so whenever I personally get them, it's kind of like I'm back in science class again. Anywho, here's some photos and a little explanation of what I found inside the two eggs!

I had two Bairdi Ratsnake eggs go full term but never hatched. I no longer saw movement in either egg, siblings hatched over a week ago now. So I decided to investigate. Both eggs had begun to yellow and have an odor.
Once cutting the fluid inside the eggs was no longer clear but had a yellow tinge to it. I knew immediately both were deceased in the egg.
The first baby was fully formed, however missing an egg tooth. Had a slightly bulging head with some kinks in the tail.
This second baby, however, was VERY interesting. It actually made it quite far in the process, but its organs were forming in a sac outside of its body. The body itself seemed to kink in ways that did not allow the organs to form inside of the body cavity. The whole "stomach" area of the snake was completely open, and there was no notable "belly button" because of this.

I have preserved both babies and added them to my personal wet specimens collection.

I'm chalking this up to a temperature fluctuation during incubation that caused these two eggs to not completely thrive.

Their 3 siblings that hatched normally are doing great and have already taken their second meals!

Messing around in my reptile room with my new 365nm UV light, I realized this female Strophurus ciliaris tail lit up like a hazard light! Her boyfriend was in shed so his tail looked quite dull in comparison. My other females tail also lightly glowed! Let me introduce you all to Creeper! He is a juvenile male Spiny Neck Monitor (Varanus spinulosus)! I was giving him time to settle in and start feeding with me before introducing him. He is a fresh import (as there are very few people working with them at this time) Perhaps if he does well I'll grab him a girlfriend to give it a shot 😉 First video is the day I got him so looking pretty dehydrated and has some nose rub. He's looking much better now after another week!
