Meet Maxy the goofiest, clumsiest, and sweetest pup ever! He’s got plenty of energy when he wants to play, but he also loves to cuddle and lay on top of you when he’s feeling comfortable. Maxy knows commands like sit, stay, and come here, and he’s been doing great on walks with his front lead harness. Maxy is currently in foster care but is still available for adoption! Our staff will be available at the Medley Facility Tuesday October 8th, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to place pets into foster homes. We appreciate your quick action and patience as we work on getting the 160 Medley dogs into temporary foster homes.

Meet Jennifer also known as Coco! Jennifer is about a year old and has been with our shelter for about a month. She is crate trained, house broken and does amazing on leash. Jennifer enjoys long walks and playing her foster sibling. Overall, she is an affectionate and gentle girl looking for her fur-ever family. Mocha’s transformation is nothing short of incredible! From feeling stressed and scared in the shelter environment, she’s now thriving in foster care. It’s amazing to see how much love and care can make a difference in an animal’s life. We are so grateful for our foster parents!

Meet Mocha ! Mocha is a 3 year old terrier mix who has been with us since mid April. She is very stressed in the shelter environment and we would love for her to go into a foster home where she may feel more at ease, and her true personality can shine.

Please join us in congratulating our newly appointed Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services, Annette Jose. A Miami native, Ms. Jose holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Florida International University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Miami. Director Jose began her professional career in the private sector working at a leading mortgage finance firm in Coral Gables. In 2014, she left the private sector to focus on Public Service joining Our Kids of Miami-Dade/Monroe as their Chief Operating Officer and in 2019, she joined Animal Services as the Assistant Director of Administrative Services. Her years as Assistant Director have provided her with an in-depth understanding of the needs of our shelter pets and the department’s unique challenges.
“I am grateful that this appointment will allow me to continue serving this community,” said Director Jose at her appointment at the recent meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. “Having been part of Animal Services for over 4 years, I am familiar with its history and how it became an industry-leading shelter. I will focus on enhancing our strengths and expanding our partner network in order to address the current challenges. Again, I am thankful for this opportunity, and look forward to serving the Miami-Dade County residents.”

Stephanie has served as a pet foster for 2 years. She helps ’s most needy shelter pets by taking them home and giving individualized loving care. She is kind, compassionate and always willing to go the extra mile for her foster pets. 💛 We know we can always count on Stephanie and are thankful for her service and commitment.

Take a look at last week's ! 🐕🐾 There are more than 700 pets available for adoption at our shelter; therefore, we need community to open their hearts and homes to the animals at our shelter more than ever. Remember that this is the last week for our event, where adoption fees are waived for pets 4 months and older and over 35 lbs, thanks to the generosity of Cathy Bissell, BISSELL Pet Foundation, and MetLife.

Meet one of our office fosters GUINEVERE
Aka Ms. Piggy she is currently being office fostered by our customer service supervisor Jerry. Guinevere is a 3 year old English bulldog mix who is a staff and volunteer favorite. She is a very affectionate girl who will paw you for more cuddles when you stop. Her goofy personality will win you over in a heartbeat. She is currently available for fostering or adopting.

Meet Oreo!
He is a 2 year old American bulldog mix that has been with us since November of 2022! He recently got a break from shelter life and enjoyed a Pawventure. Oreo had a great time! He had no issues hopping in the car, walked very well with minimal pulling and was friendly greeting anyone that came his way.
Oreo is current available for fostering or adoption!

Snoop is a dog full of life and lots of love. He is attentive and obedient, getting along with all types and sizes of dogs. He loves treats, he needs a family that will take him for a walk and give him cuddles, he is a very sweet dog. Snoop is ready to accompany and brighten the life of whoever decides to adopt him.

Lola A2331828

Lola is a 2-year-old dog with a calm and loving personality. Lola is obedient, she gets along well with the dogs, although some get annoyed with her because she jumps on them. She loves treats, she knows how to sit down and receive them gently, she also knows how to give her paw. She is not a dog that jumps on you or plays rough. Lola is sweet and shows you with her tail and soft kisses that she is grateful. She has been in the shelter for 10 long months waiting for the family to receive her, care for her and love her as she deserves.

Casper is roughly 2 years old and could really use a break from shelter life. We are currently office fostering him in hopes it helps him decompress. We would love for him to go a foster home. He seems to be potty trained and enjoys playing with other dogs. He finds comfort in toys and often takes them with him on his walks.
