Wellness Wednesday: Keeping Your Pets Happy and Healthy 🐶🐱
For Dogs:
Stay Active: Regular walks or play sessions keep your dog fit and prevent boredom-related behaviors.
Brush Those Teeth: Dental health is crucial! Aim to brush your dog’s teeth a few times a week or provide dental treats.
Mental Stimulation: Rotate toys and try puzzle feeders to keep their minds sharp and engaged.

For Cats:
Hydration is Key: Cats often don't drink enough water. Add wet food to their diet or use a pet fountain to encourage hydration.
Scratching is Essential: Provide a variety of scratching posts to keep their claws healthy and prevent furniture destruction.
Window Watching: Set up a cozy perch near a window for enrichment. Bird feeders outside can be a bonus!
Caring for your pets’ physical and mental health ensures they live their best lives. Happy Wellness Wednesday! 🌿🐾

🐾 Skunked? We’ve Got You Covered! 🐾

If your furry friend has had an unfortunate run-in with a skunk, don’t panic—follow these steps to make the best of a stinky situation:

🦨 Do NOT get your dog wet after they’ve been sprayed! Water can actually spread the smell and make it harder to remove.

📞 Call us right away for an emergency skunk bath! Our team will safely and effectively treat your pet to remove the odor and have them smelling fresh again in no time.

🐾🎉 Fun Fact Friday: Dogs Have a “Sixth Toe”! 🎉🐾

Did you know some dogs have an extra toe called a dewclaw? 🐶 This little toe is located higher up on the paw and doesn’t touch the ground when your pup walks.

✨ Here’s the Scoop:
Dewclaws are believed to be remnants of ancient toes from when dogs’ ancestors needed extra grip for climbing or running on rough terrain.

While not all dogs use them, certain breeds like Great Pyrenees and Norwegian

Lundehunds rely on their dewclaws for stability when navigating steep or rugged areas.

Fun fact bonus: The Norwegian Lundehund is the only breed with SIX toes on each paw, making them extra agile climbers!

🐾 Paw-some Tip: Keep an eye on your pup’s dewclaws—they can grow long and need trimming just like their other nails.

🐾🎉 Fun Fact Friday: Why Do Dogs Dream? 🎉🐾

Did you know that your dog dreams just like you do? 🐶 When your pup is twitching their paws, wagging their tail, or softly barking in their sleep, they’re likely dreaming about their adventures!

✨ Here’s the Scoop:

Dogs experience REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, just like humans. This is the stage where dreams occur.
Puppies and senior dogs tend to dream more frequently than adult dogs. Why? They have more to process—learning new things or reminiscing about old times!
Scientists believe dogs dream about activities they do during the day, like chasing a ball, playing with friends, or even enjoying a treat.
🐾 Fun Fact Bonus: Small dogs tend to have shorter, more frequent dreams, while larger dogs have longer dreams but less often.

🎄🐾 Weggy Wellness Wednesday🐾🎄

The holiday season is here, and while we’re all indulging in delicious treats, it’s important to remember that some of our favorite holiday foods can be dangerous for our furry friends. Sharing is caring—but not when it comes to these foods!

🚫 Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Pets:

Chocolate: A holiday classic for us, but toxic for dogs and cats.
Grapes & Raisins: Found in fruitcakes, these can cause kidney failure in pets.
Onions & Garlic: Common in stuffing and casseroles, but harmful to pets.
Bones from Meat: Cooked bones can splinter and cause choking or internal injuries.
Alcohol: Even small amounts can be extremely dangerous.
Rich, Fatty Foods: These can upset your pet’s stomach or even lead to pancreatitis.

🐕 Safe Treat Ideas for Your Pets:
If you want to include your furry family members in the celebrations, stick to pet-friendly treats or simple foods like plain, cooked turkey (no seasoning), carrots, or green beans.

✨ Holiday Pro Tip: Keep an eye on those unattended plates and trash bins—our clever pets are experts at sneaking a snack!

Let’s make this season merry, bright, and safe for everyone. 🐾 Share this post to help keep pets everywhere happy and healthy this holiday season!

🐾🎉 Fun Fact Friday: Why Do Dogs Spin Before Lying Down? 🎉🐾

Have you ever noticed your dog doing a little spin or circle before they settle down to rest? 🐶 This quirky behavior actually comes from their wild ancestors!

✨ Here’s Why:
Safety First: Wild dogs and wolves would spin to trample grass, leaves, or snow, creating a safe and comfortable spot to rest.

Temperature Control: In the wild, circling helped them adjust their sleeping spot’s temperature by moving cooler soil or snow.

Instincts Run Deep: Even though your pup has a cozy bed at home, this instinctive behavior has stuck around—it’s part of their heritage!

🐕 Fun Challenge: Does your dog do a single spin, a double twirl, or more before plopping down? Let us know in the comments and share a video of their bedtime dance!

🐾❄️ Waggy Wellness Wednesday❄️🐾

As temperatures drop, it’s important to remember that not all dogs handle the cold the same way. Your pup’s coat plays a big role in keeping them warm, but some breeds are more suited for chilly weather than others. Here’s what to know:

🧥 Coats Built for the Cold:
Breeds like Huskies, Malamutes, and Newfoundlands have thick, double coats that insulate them even in freezing temperatures. They thrive in winter weather!

Working dogs like St. Bernards and Bernese Mountain Dogs also handle the cold well thanks to their dense fur.

🐕 Short Coats Need Extra Care:
Short-haired breeds like Boxers, Greyhounds, and Chihuahuas aren’t built for the cold and may need extra help staying warm.

For these pups, a cozy sweater or jacket is more than just a fashion statement—it’s a necessity!

🌬️ Cold Weather Tips for All Breeds:
Limit time outdoors for all dogs when temperatures are extreme.
Always dry their paws after walks to prevent ice and salt irritation.
Keep water bowls from freezing, especially for outdoor pets.

✨ Remember: Even dogs with thick coats can feel the chill, especially in windy or wet conditions. Always watch for signs of discomfort like shivering or lifting paws off the ground.

Stay warm and waggy, friends! 🐶💙 Drop a photo of your pup in their winter gear in the comments—we’d love to see their cozy styles!

🐾🎉 Fun Fact Friday: Did You Know About a Dog's Unique Nose Print? 🎉🐾

Just like our fingerprints, every dog has a unique nose print! Those cute little ridges and patterns on your pup's snout are as one-of-a-kind as they are. In fact, some organizations even use nose prints for identifying dogs, just like we use fingerprints for people!

✨ Fun Fact Bonus: A dog’s nose isn’t just for smelling—it also helps regulate their body temperature. That’s why their noses are often cold and wet. Cool, right? 🐶❄️

So next time your pup gives you a “nose boop,” you’re getting a little touch of something truly special. 💙
