Dr. Doug Daniels, National HBPA President, and Jill Gordon-Moore, a Commissioner on the Virginia Racing Commission, are both attending the Racing & Gaming Conference at Saratoga this week representing the interests of Virginia horsemen! Back in New Kent, the Colonial Downs summer season returns to its regular schedule today after a week of cancellations and rescheduled performances. Racing today begins at 1:30 PM followed by programs Friday (4:30 PM) and Saturday (1:30 PM).

Tan/Beige Breeches
Black Tall Boots
Black Helmet (no embellishments)
Stock Tie & Pin ( For hunt night classes)
Black or Brown Gloves
Spurs or Crop

Horse Tack-
Flat Bridle (for hunt night classes)
Show Bridle (non hunt night classes)
Fleece Fitted Saddle Pad
Saddle
Leather Girth or Clean Fleece Girth
Breast Collar (for hunt night classes)
Martingale for jumping if needed

Braiding is not required for our schooling show but the rest is required! Plus your horse should be bathed, clipped and turned out well! Rider should have clean & properly fitted tack and clothing!

A small, cantankerous, plain bay gelding, John Henry was a horse no one wanted as a youngster. He remained a difficult and at times nasty customer to the end of his days but as a racer became legendary for both his indomitable will to win and his longevity. The oldest horse ever to earn American Horse of the Year honors since polling began in 1936, he continued his status as a living legend until his death at the Kentucky Horse Park at the age of 32.
