Our super noble and handsome patient, Koda, is here to say Merry Christmas and to let you all know we are CLOSED on Monday! We will re-open on Tuesday at 7:30am! If you have an emergency, please contact Westside Animal Emergency : 770-819-1090.
Watch 👀 closely! This is a microscopic view of a baby heart worm ( also known as microfilaria ). These baby heartworms are a result of non-compliance with heart worm prevention. Heart worms are spread through mosquito bites! One mosquito will bite an infected dog, coyote/wildlife and then bite your dog, transmitting these microscopic parasites. If your pet is not on prevention, your pet is at a HIGH risk of infection. #TheMoreYouKnow
Is your dog afraid of fireworks? Call us BEFORE July to request your pets medications!! JULY 4th is LESS THAN 1 month away!
It’s flea and tick season!! If your pet isn’t protected, this could happen!
Just one flea on your dog or cat can signal a huge problem. In fact, a single flea can lay up to 50 eggs in one day . These eggs can then roll off your pet and infest the environment —wherever your pet goes, fleas and their eggs will go, too. Before you even realize you have a problem, just a few fleas can quickly become hundreds that may infest your home and bite your pet.
Since humans can only see adult fleas, it can be difficult to grasp the full scope of an infestation. Most pet owners focus treatment efforts on the adult fleas they see crawling on their pets and are unaware of the younger stages of fleas growing in the surrounding environment. Unfortunately, adult fleas make up only 5% of the total flea infestation problem. The other 95% are invisible to the naked eye.
Stop by and get your preventative today!
We still can’t get enough of Millie ! We love our patients and being able to spend time with them makes our job so wonderful!
KITTY ABSCESS
**WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT**
This sweet man developed a very large abscess. The ER was going to charge his precious owner several thousand dollars to treat him. Today, we were able to treat him properly, save his owner a lot of money and get him started on the right foot towards healing.
Edit to add: He was given pain medication for this procedure and was relaxed. He was also properly cleaned up after his procedure.
When Friends To The Forlorn Pitbull Rescue and Kay Animal Hospital friends and family rally, you really rally! The outpouring for Piper and her Mom was stunning. Clothing and toiletries, a brand new tent, cold weather sleeping bag, a crate and food for Piper. Gift cards and essential supplies were also supplied. The outpouring of love and support for her during this time truly found her thankful. She sends her gratitude and love to you all for your support and generosity. Pipers skin is already looking better and we can’t wait to see the improvement in a few weeks when she comes in for her spay. Thank you all again, truly, from the bottom of our heart.

Frank is such a happy pup. Even though he can't stay outside long because of his respiratory issues, he loves every second of it. We LOVE his goofy run! Endoscopy time is finally here. On Tuesday! We need good thoughts and prayers for good news!!!!!! The amount of love and support from everyone has kept this happy man going :)
Frank had an EXCITING day today. A few staples were able to come out of his neck from his original surgery and the incision looks great. He also met a ton of doggie friends today while enjoying the sunshine. If there is ever a moment of anger towards anyone in your life just remember what this handsome fellow has been through and how much love and trust he has to give. Learn from his love and strength!
