New Hampshire Pet Aid

We rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters to help those in our community get the treatment their pet needs.

Currently we are accepting applications for assistance from residents of Strafford and Rockingham counties only. We hope to expand to other areas of NH as funding allows. If you are looking to apply for a grant for your cat's or dog's veterinary emergency, visit www.nhpetaid.org and go to the HOW TO APPLY tab for guidelines. Meet Freya!

This gorgeous 10 month old was brought to her vet when she wasn't acting like herself. After diagnostics, her veterinarian was concerned she was starting to form a pyometra- a life threatening infection of the uterus. She had a recheck appointment two days later and it was determined she didn't need surgery after all! After some supportive care to get her feeling better, Freya is back to normal and back with her loving family! Because of funding from New Hampshire Pet Aid, Freya was able to get the necessary testing done to make sure she received the best care!

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 🐾

This dapper gentleman sure can rock a sweater!

Roman’s owners rushed him to his veterinarian when he was unable to urinate on his own due to a blockage. Often times these cats can be treated by passing a urinary catheter, but in more extreme cases, like this one, surgery is needed. This surgery changes the anatomy to allow cats to p*e more easily. Roman recovered well from his surgery and is back home with his family- just in time for his human brother’s 10th birthday!

These are just a few of the more than 300 pets we’ve been able to help thanks to you, our generous donors! Our goal is to keep cats and dogs from being surrendered to shelters, euthanized, or suffering when their loving owners cannot afford emergency veterinary care. Because every pet and owner deserves to feel those warm, familiar snuggles during the holidays.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐎𝐫𝐞𝐨 🐾

This cutie pie is only a year old! She quickly went from her happy, energetic self, to a pup that couldn’t even get up onto the couch. She was hardly eating or drinking, and also had a fever. She was taken to her veterinarian and started on a treatment for Lyme disease. After a few days Oreo was starting to act like her normal, puppy self again!

Did you know it only has to be 40°F outside for ticks to be active?! Be sure to consult your conventional and/or holistic veterinarians about options to support your dog with prevention methods that align with you.

Tomorrow is officially #𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 - an organized holiday dedicated to bringing seasonal awareness to nonprofits & charities.

It’s a wonderful time of the year for many, yet challenging for some; especially when a pet faces an unexpected veterinary emergency. At New Hampshire Pet Aid we offer families who are in financial need, and living in select Seacoast towns, up to $500 towards their pet’s urgent or emergent veterinary visit. We work closely with veterinary practices to make quick and efficient decisions so that we can help to keep beloved pets together with the people who love them.

A giant 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔 to our new friends over at 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗭𝗔 for hosting NHPA as one of two beneficiaries to their fundraising efforts during their Harvest Open Charity Golf Tournament! Another grand thank you goes to all of our 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙨 for supporting our fundraising efforts with your donations of local goods & services- our silent auction was an absolute hit because of your contributions!

This pup is normally an exceptionally obedient girl, but her owners found themselves at the emergency clinic after she ate her whole leash! Thankfully she went in promptly for surgery, and the leash was removed! We got note that Maggie Mo recovered well, which fills our hearts to hear.

NHPA has been selected by in Dover, NH to receive a portion of proceeds during the dates of October 8th through the 17th. Pick a night to join us for a little, local thrill while we play casino games with friends or family. You may catch a few of our volunteer board members!

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐨𝐫 🐾

This adorable Rhodesian Ridgeback mix was made to be model!

This gorgeous girl needed surgery after tearing her cruciate ligament- the equivalent of an ACL tear in people. This ligament is responsible for stabilizing the knee joint. Without treatment, dogs will live in chronic pain and are quick to develop arthritis. Thanks to funding from New Hampshire Pet Aid, Falkor was able to get the surgery she needed and is back to living a pain-free life!

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐥𝐚 🐾

Miss Lola is a three year old kitty who was recently adopted. She was rushed to the emergency room when her owner noticed she was having trouble breathing. She was placed in an oxygen cage and diagnosed with feline asthma. Similar to asthma in people, feline asthma can often be managed at home. However, it sometimes turns into a life threatening situation. Thankfully, Lola was able to make a full recovery, and is back in her home!

Here’s a fun fact… Some cats with asthma can learn how to use an inhaler to get their daily medication!

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐲

This adorable pup was recently adopted from the South. When her owner brought her to her first check-up, she was diagnosed with heartworm disease. Heartworms are spread by mosquito bites, so all dogs are potentially at risk. While heartworm is still more prevalent in the South, the incidents of heartworm disease in the Northeast has recently been increasing. Without treatment, heartworm disease will lead to death. Treatment is very extensive, and can be very expensive. Luckily, New Hampshire Pet Aid was able to help fund treatment for Lacey and she is on the road of recovery!
