🤢 Regurgitation vs. Vomiting — What’s the Difference?

Pets can bring things back up for many reasons, but regurgitation and vomiting are NOT the same!
Knowing the difference can help your veterinary team diagnose the cause more accurately.

✅ Regurgitation
• Happens quickly + effortlessly
• Food or liquid comes back up soon after eating
• Usually undigested
• No nausea signs beforehand
• Often tube-shaped (from the esophagus)

✅ Vomiting
• Active process — involves retching + abdominal effort
• May happen hours after eating
• Food is often partially digested
• Nausea signs beforehand: drooling, licking lips, pacing
• May include bile

🐶🐱 Why it matters

Because these processes have different causes, they are diagnosed and treated differently.
If your pet is bringing up food frequently, take note of what it looks like and how it happens — and give us a call!

Today we pause to raise awareness for canine lymphoma, one of the most common cancers affecting our beloved dogs. 💛
Lymphoma accounts for nearly 10–20% of all canine cancers and impacts the lymphatic system — a vital part of the immune system. While it can sound scary, early detection and regular checkups can make all the difference in treatment and quality of life.

Watch for signs like:
🐾 Swollen lymph nodes (under the jaw, in front of the shoulders, or behind the knees)
🐾 Decreased energy or appetite
🐾 Weight loss
🐾 Increased thirst or urination

• More restlessness or clinginess
• Changes in energy
• Anxiety on evening walks
• Disrupted feeding/sleep schedules

How to help:
✅ Keep a consistent routine
✅ Add indoor play + enrichment
✅ Use reflective gear for nighttime walks
✅ Offer reassurance and extra bonding time
