Make sure to take it clow when introducing a new pet to your family. Keep an eye on their body language, and reward them for calm and relaxed behavior. When introducing new pets, especially cats, make sure they are healthy and disease free before introducing them to other pets!

January is Walk Your Dog Month! 🐾

There are many benefits that come from walking your dog, for you and your pet both! It provides an opportunity to train your pup and extra bonding time. It's a great way to socialize your pup with other dogs and people. Not only that, but it's great exercise for both of you! Keeping your dog active with regular walks can help them remain healthier.

First off, we'd like to thank everyone who purchased raffle tickets and donated to SAM - Save A Mom Pregnant Dog Rescue! In total, we raised $700 for Save A Mom! We also had many donations of food and supplies. These donations will greatly help the moms and pups get the care they need.

In an effort to keep you informed, we tracked our tick borne disease cases in 2024. Tick borne diseases are one of the main threats to your pet's health! In the last 2 years, we've made an effort to educate each owner on the risk and prevention of these diseases. Through our effort and your cooperation, we've decreased the number of tick borne disease cases and increased the number of annual Lyme vaccines administered!

In 2024, we increased the number of annual Lyme vaccines administered from 333 in 2023 to 379 this past year. The number of Lyme Disease cases decreased from 72 in 2023 to 43 in 2024. This is a direct effect of the increased Lyme vaccinations given. Anaplasma still remains a threat to our pets, as there is no vaccine. Adequate, year-round tick control is the best way to prevent Anaplasma infections. A new trend we've been seeing is tick borne diseases in cats. We diagnosed 1 case of Lyme Disease and 2 cases of Anaplasma in cats. This shows it's important for cats to be on year-round tick control, also!

In 2025, it's our goal to decrease the number of tick borne diseases in our patients even further and increase the number of Lyme vaccines administered, yet again. We hope our transparency will help you realize the serious threat ticks pose to your pet so you can react accordingly!

⚠ Food Recall:

There have been two reports of cats contracting H5 avian flu from their raw food. Brands linked to this recall include Monarch Raw Pet Food and Northwest Naturals. Officials are urging pet owners to avoid feeding pets raw food to avoid possible avian flu infection. Click the link below for more information regarding the recall.

On New Year's Eve the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) urged pet owners to avoid feeding pets raw food after tests found links between a cat's H5 avian flu illness and raw food sold by Monarch Raw Pet Food at California farmer's markets.

Save A Mom is a non-profit rescue that takes in pregnant dogs, newly whelped litters, and orphan litters. Each puppy and mama dog are spayed/neutered and current on all vaccinations and preventions at time of adoption. Save A Mom relies on donations to provide this care and feed all the hungry mouths at rescue!

Keep your holiday celebrations pet friendly! 🐾

Keep food, candy, and baked goods out of your pet's reach, as they may be toxic. Many holiday plants can pe potential toxins, including poinsettia. Holiday decorations can also pose a threat to your pet, if ingested. Make sure to avoid these hazards and keep your Christmas merry!
