A community-funded, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, Pope Memorial Humane Society (PMHS) is dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of animals in Strafford County, NH and Southern Maine. We are a safe, temporary home for more than 1,000 surrendered, lost, abused, neglected, or unwanted animals each year. We Fulfill Our Mission By:
-Placing animals into caring, forever homes
-Promoting the pract

One-On-One Dog Training for you and your pup!🐕

Finding affordable ways to get help with your dog can be challenging. Thankfully, PMHS-CV has begun rolling out our private lesson programs!
These are one on one lessons in the home, or wherever you and your dog are looking for support. These can cover skill building such as loose leash walking, coming when called, or stay. These can also cover more complicated challenges such as reactivity.
Training with your dog should be a great experience for both ends of the leash, and we strive to make sure your dog is happy, healthy, and learning!

💙SENIORS FOR SENIORS💙
Senior dogs + senior humans = a perfect match!😆

Our Seniors for Seniors adoption program helps match a perfect senior furry friend for seniors who want to enjoy and love a mature dog without all the energy and training involved with adopting a young active dog. Younger dogs and puppies require more physical daily activities (running/walking), dog/human socialization and much more daily training than a calm and wise senior dog. Senior dogs are more mellow, affectionate, and well behaved. Super sweeties! They will be your loyal best friend and loving companion!

The adoption process for seniors is like our standard adoption process. However, if you are 65+ years of age, we have a reduced adoption fee for you! For dogs 10 and older, the adoption fee is $60 - For cats 10 and older, the adoption fee is $20.
