NovaStar Rescue To educate, advocate, rescue and rehabilitate. NovaStar Rescue is a small nonprofit rescue located in Dover Arkansas. This is our purpose and mission.

Our main focus is to advocate , educate, rescue and rehabilitate Bully Breeds with a special emphasis on the pitbull. We believe Pitties are the most loyal yet most misunderstood dogs. Whether they come from off the streets or out of the shelters, every Pittie deserves a chance at a good home where they will be loved and cherished as a family member.

I don’t even know how to write this. My heart is shattered. 💔

I got a call asking for help… and though I already knew what the answer would be, nothing could prepare me for the reality.

Puppies just 5 days old. Babies at 8 to 10 weeks. Adults who have lived their whole lives in suffering litter after litter. At least 20 dogs in total.

Someone is poisoning them to kill them.
Females in heat are causing brutal fights. Their little bodies are crawling with fleas and ticks. Their gums are pale. They are emaciated, starving, broken.

I’ve seen so much in rescue, but this… this has broken me. To see innocent lives treated as disposable, to see dogs who only want love suffering this way, it’s unbearable.

We can’t save them alone. We can’t walk away either. They need us. Every single one of them deserves a chance to know love, safety, and kindness.

We are begging for help. Fosters. Donations. Supplies. Anything.

UPDATE. The blood transfusion is running now. The gums are already pinking up and we got a slight tail wag. ‼️Her hematocrit was 7%‼️ 😳 Which is seriously no blood!!

Thank you all for your support - Donations, prayers, good thoughts, for this little Star. She is definitely not over the hump yet but she is such a little fighter!! We will update again once the transfusion is done.

We just pulled in and she is inside now. I will update as soon as we know anything. Keep those prayers and good vibes coming. Ive honestly never seen gums and paw pads as white as this puppy's. 😢

⭐️⭐️I went to add a pic to the post and somehow deleted the donate button. I put it back but its not going to show donations that were already made which was about $450, I think, before I deleted it. 🙄 So just my mistake. The money is still there, just not showing up now.

She did lift her head and look at me when I walked over to her crate just now. Hopefully she's gonna make it til morning.

Our new little Star, Ghosty, isnt doing too good. Her gums have no color and she is too weak to even stand. We will be headed to the vet in the morning, probably for a blood transfusion, if she makes it thru the night.

All those tiny black dots are dead fleas. There were 100s more on the blanket that you cant see. Between the massive flea infestation and the intestinal parasites, she is extremely anemic.

Please send all your prayers and good thoughts for Ghosty. She is a very sick little girl right now.

We were tagged in this little pup today needing help. She was brought to the rescue very lethargic just now. Parvo was negative. No doubt this is a combination of several different parasites - hookworms, roundworm and probably coccidia. She has been started on all the appropriate meds and will be watched thru the nite. She may need some fluids to get her going.

Please please VACCINATE AND DEWORM your puppies!! Worms and coccidia are things we see in almost every litter of puppies that comes in. And these parasites will kill young puppies by taking all their nutrition and causing diarrhea and loss of appetite leading to dehydration. Puppies should be wormed every 2 weeks starting at 2 weeks of age until they are about 4 months old. Worms also lower your puppy's immunity, making them more susceptible to things like parvo.

Please send all your good thoughts and prayers for Ghosty, that's what the team here has named her! She needs strength to beat these nasty parasites! If you'd like to donate for our next gallon of wormer or our next tray of vaccines, it is always appreciated!

Ghosty has 2 siblings at home and we sent meds home with the owner for the other 2 who are not as sick (yet) as Ghosty. Hopefully all 3 will pull thru!

Her name is Boo and she has been missing for 2 weeks!! Her owners were SO HAPPY to get her back. We chipped her for the family just in case she ever gets loose again. We love happy endings!

We got a call for help with this little thing last nite. A gentleman found him/her at the landfill near the rendering plant in Russellville yesterday. The guys said the little dog had been there all day.

So if anyone is missing this sweet dog, please reach out with proof of ownership and identify s*x of the dog. Stray hold is FIVE DAYS.

So this past weekend was Transport #8. It started out small but ended up not too bad with 19 canine Stars, 2 from Debbie and Polly that hitched a ride to Connecticut, and 5 little lions! And of course Miss Molly was along to help navigate! 🙄😂

Big big thanks as always to our rescue partners up north who take our Stars and find them the best homes! We are very grateful!

Also this week we had 3 adopted pups on board and a litter of pups that went to our Awesome Foster in Rochester NY, Wendy, from where they will be adopted and on to their new homes very soon!!

Late Saturday nite there was a little bit of a stressful situation when someone coming onto the interstate hit our van! Our van stopped, they did not. 911 was called. There was no damage and being dark there wasn't really a good description of the vehicle so the officers told our drivers to go ahead. Turns out they actually hit the trailer hitch on the back of the van. But good news is all our people and all Stars are safe and no harm done!!

Thank you to our team and all of you who make these transports possible every month!!

Every day at NovaStar Rescue, over 150 dogs wake up depending on us, not just for love and safety, but for something as simple and vital as a full bowl of food. For many of them, that bowl represents the first time they’ve ever known comfort, security, and care.

Right now, our shelves are running low. 💔 And while our dogs don’t understand the logistics of rescue, they do understand when their tummies are full, when their tails wag freely, and when kindness tastes like dinner in their bowl.

Anddddd its FRIDAY!!! Its been a busy week at the rescue. In spite of still being closed to intake, we took 3 dogs from a bad situation out Rushing Rd in Dover. There are two females and the male still on the property that the owners want to keep and we will help them to get those dogs fixed so there are no more!

We took the little Border Collie pup that was hiding at PDQ terrified.

We took a pitiful little pit with no hair.

All these babies will need vetting, shots, deworm, flea tick and heartworm prevention, spay/neuter, etc. If you would like to help with any of these Stars or any other of our Stars

‼️‼️Our most urgent needs‼️‼️

1. Food. Adult pedigree chicken or Diamond puppy.
2. Simparica Trio or Nexgard Plus.
3. SafeGuard wormer.

⭐️⭐️☀️⭐️⭐️ Good News!! Jude has been spotted by one of our rescue partners up north and if no owner shows by WEDNESDAY, Jude will be the first one on the freedom bus next month!!

We got a call about 9 pm last nite about this pup hiding behind some stuff down at the PDQ here in Dover. The pup didn't seem to feel very good and refused offers of food or water.

‼️‼️IF THIS IS YOUR PUP PLEASE GET HOLD OF US WITHIN 5 DAY. Must have vet records or be able to identify s*x of pup.‼️‼️

Jessica Bearnson and I went and picked it up and brought it to the rescue. This little pup is about 4 months, very shy and scared but that tail wags so hard when you speak softly.

My best guess would be Border Collie. today he/she feels much better, ate and drank and got shots and flea meds. Im really hoping this sweet little pup has an owner out there somewhere!

Meet Elm ! This is what her foster had to say.
She is house trained and is around 1 year old and loves to run and play. Gets along with other dogs and walks good on a leash. She is learning to sit, stay and wait. When I tell her it's bedtime, she goes to her playpen, crawls on her pillow and I don't here a peep from her until the morning. Elm is fully vetted and looking for her Forever home. If you are interested, go on Nova Star Rescue website and fill out an application.
