THANKFUL THURSDAY and I have a lot to say so bear with me! 😁😁
There is so much to be thankful for that honestly I don't even know where to start! But today I think that I should focus on all of the things there are to be thankful for in the life of a rescuer. I know we all get so bogged down in all the sad heartbreaking things about rescue that we sometimes forget how much we really have to be thankful for.
Rescue will take and take and take, until you feel like you've literally lost yourself in all the sadness and heartbreaking things we see daily, the horrific scenes we walk into, the horrifying injuries and abuse and neglect, the endless pleas for help, the mind boggling cruelty of humans, the Neverending litters of unwanted little puppies dying from lack of basic care. So much sadness we see and take in every day and it weighs down the very soul of the rescuers. But when I stop and reflect for a bit, there is also good, so much good, to be found. The friends I've made, the love we share, helping carry each other thru the worst that humanity throws at us. And i am so thankful for that. Our group has grown so much over these last 12 or 13 years. We've lost some old ones and gained some new ones. We have learned so much. Things have changed. Different dynamics and ideas were introduced. But at the end of it all, we have each other. Every day. Any one of us can call another at literally any hour of the day or night and know that we will get whatever help we need on the other end of that line. My team has literally followed me into some of the worst situations that most of you cannot even imagine in your worst nightmares, with unwavering loyalty and without question. When the need arises they are ready to go, no matter the hour or the situation. So although I may have lost a lot in this rescue life, I have also gained so much.... invaluable resources, friends, ideas, people who I know will be there for me and this rescue, and just in life in general! And for that I am the most thankful today.
Of course it goes without saying that we are thankful for all of our followers and our supporters every day of the year! We could not do any of this without you. So although we see some of the absolute worst in people, we also get to see and meet some of the very best people who will literally give their last dime and their last ounce of strength to keep going to save that one more dog that needs us.
So today, THANK YOU TO MY TEAM. TEAM NOVASTAR!! No, we will never be the biggest or the best or everyone's favorite, and that's ok. Because at the end of the day WE KNOW we did our absolute best to help the ones who cant help themselves and we can lie down at nite knowing we gave our all to each and every one! And for that, ALL RESCUERS should be proud!! Proud of themselves and their Team! We never give up. We get tired, awful damn tired. We get SOOOO frustrated! But we DO NOT QUIT! There is no place in rescue for quitters and whiners!
MUCH LOVE AND THANKS TODAY AND EVERYDAY TO MY TEAM AND TO ALL THE RESCUERS OUT THERE WHO STRUGGLE IN THE TRENCHES WITH US EVERY SINGLE DAY AND NIGHT. Be easy on yourselves just for this one day. Reflect on all the good you've done and try to forget the rest for just a day. But know that ALWAYS, YOU DID YOUR BEST. WE SEE YOU. WE HEAR YOU. Every day, every hour, for every dog who has come thru your doors. You did your best. Thank you.
