As the weather warms up and you think your double coated dog should be shaved, please reconsider. While ultimately, I'll do whatever the pet parents want (within reason) there are reasons your groomer will try to talk you out of shaving your dog.
Ever wonder why your groomer tells you how your dog behaved every. single. time.? If I tell you he's grouchy every time, no, I'm not telling you I hate him or trying to make you feel bad. If I tell you she was a perfect angel every time, no, I'm not kissing your butt. If I tell you I think they may need to see a vet, no, I'm not getting paid a commission by your clinic. No, I'm not trying to be annoying and redundant. It's because I care.
I give a report for many reasons
🔷️ sometimes I find something under all that hair that needs to be addressed.
🔷️ sometimes you need to know your dog is extremely wiggly or aggressive because my tools are sharp. This means sometimes the haircut might not be perfect to avoid injury or unneeded stress on your pup
🔷️ sometimes your dog isn't acting normally. Though, yes, our pets can have off days and bad moods, too... but a sudden behavior change isn't normal.
🔷️ but every time, it's because I care about your pet's health, happiness, and well-being.

As usual, I should've started recording earlier so you could really see how Ranger makes in snow in the shop! I vacuum the floor between each client, so all that hair on the floor and flying around is dead undercoat that needed to come out! A well maintained, tangle free undercoat will do wonders at keeping your dog warm and insulated this winter!

If you're constantly brushing your dog and it's still shedding 1)you may be using the wrong tools (but that's a whole other conversation and 2) your dog probably needs a good bath with warm water and a quality shampoo!

I've been grooming this dude for a few years now, so at this point, we kind of get each other. He's been turned away from a few other groomers for his aggressive behavior, but I've figured out his ticks. He doesn't like the blow dryer - so I shave him before the bath. He doesn't like brushing - so we just keep him short. He doesn't like my messing with his face - so that's the very first thing we do when his mom leaves, so he hasn't had the chance to get fed up with the process yet. Grooms like this are some of my favorites. He may not be show ready, but he trusts me now, and that's a win for me.
