With dog walking I usually recommend a good harness with a front clip (and one on the back, Sometimes using leashes on both, at once, really helps.) Also paired with high value treats and positive reinforcement. With, hopefully, eventually, weaning out the treats! The dog has to be highly food motivated to be lured and trained with food and positive reassurance.
This option is especially good for people who may not want to try a prong collar or an electric collar. Which those are great tools to use. When used properly, they can make a world of a difference! Especially with certain breeds and personalities. They use pressure, vibration or sound to help train the dog. But it is considered to be more of a "punishment" (a negative) training rather than just using positive. If you have a reactive dog, these may not be good methods. The methods can further trigger your dog. Reach out to a dog trainer for any help!
My schooling and experience always used positive reinforcement training/techniques. So that's what I like to try first, unless my clients want me to use a different way. I am open and have a wide variety of experience! And I'm open to many methods and techniques as long as it doesn't hurt a dog! Some methods work better than others on certain breeds and personalities. There is no one size fits all!

I'll link a couple of good harnesses, with a front clip, in the comments :). These ones have good comments/reviews on durability, dogs cant slip out of them easily, and good quality.
