I know it’s been forever since I’ve posted a Brillo update! He’s still doing great! No health issues at all. We put a fire hydrant in the dog yard as a joke this afternoon. I didn’t think the dogs would care, and most of them didn’t… but Brillo… he wasn’t too sure it was suppose to be in “his” yard! 😂😂
As far as his genetic testing goes, UC Davis is still working on his genome sequencing. This is expected to take 18-24 months and we are about 15 months in! All of the other genetic tests as well as bloodwork have come back normal. He’s just a normal, naked Chessie! ❤️🤗
Someone is certainly full of himself tonight. 😆😆❤️❤️ big, smart boy!
Brillo is just shy of 9 months old and weights in at 117lbs! I love pulling into the driveway when the dogs are outside. Crazy bunch we have here!
I tried to sneak a video while he was playing but he caught me. 🤦♀️ Brillo playing with some of his big doggie friends!
Quick Brillo video. We haven’t posted very much as we have been super busy this summer. Hopefully things will slow down a bit in a few weeks! Anyway, here is Brillo and his buddy Toothless. Toothless is a 2 year old Golden Retriever and Brillo outweighs him by over 10lbs!
Brown clown definitely applies to Brillo! He’s loving his island life! #brillothewonderpup #brillotheclown #drummondisland
Today was a day we have been waiting weeks for! It was finally warm enough to take Brillo down to the lake! I think we can say it was a huge success! Nothing slows this boy down!
This boy, he’s so silly! No real updates, he is just eating, growing, playing and being one happy, wild, HUGE puppy!
A little glimpse into our crazy busy home! Brillo’s is happy and wild! He will be 14 weeks old tomorrow and weighs 44lbs!
HUGE thank you to Deb Rhodes who sent Brillo a pair of his favorite pajamas from Working Dog Cool Coats! I can not thank you enough! Doesn’t he look good?!? He needed to wear something snazzy to go play ball with his big sis, Millie, and one of his human brothers this afternoon at our property.
Today is a big day! We have decided to team up with Embark for Breeders to do DNA testing with Brillo, both of his parents as well as several of his littermates to see if we can isolate the cause of Brillo’s Hairlessness. We are all so excited to be doing this testing and can not wait to see what Embark can tell us!
They play like this for hours.
Favorite toy = his tail. 😂
Warmer weather and learning to go DOWN the stairs. 🐾❤️
I should find them a blanket. 🙃🤫😴
💥Test result update!💥
Someone turned 6 weeks old today! Time sure does fly! Brillo is the one of the happiest puppies I’ve ever met. He loves to play and snuggle but his favorite thing to do is... EAT! He is 14 pounds of pure sweetness! Not only did our baby turn 6 weeks old but we received his test results from UC Davis! Brillo was tested for all the known hairless genes in dogs including the newer mutation found in the American Hairless Terrier. It was determined that he does NOT have any of the know gene mutations that cause hairlessness. It is definitely still likely he has a mutation, just not one that has been documented. We have an appointment to see his geneticist on Wednesday and we will discuss what testing will be done next. ❤️🐾 As far as his health goes, he has been 100% healthy! He had blood work (CBC, full Chemistry panel and electrolytes) done this week and everything came back perfect! We wanted to make sure everything looked good and get a baseline for his normal values for future reference. So with that said, we are still leaning towards the spontaneous gene mutation theory to explain his hairlessness. ❤️ Thank you all for the continued support! It is so amazing how big of a team Brillo has behind him!
He’s such a good traveler!
