Big shout out to the 72nd Medical Group active duty members, staff, and their families for being excellent hosts for our miniature therapy ponies🥰 Special thanks to Colonel Cang Bui for overseeing the operation, Chief of Medical Staff Lieutenant Colonel Erin Brack for having the idea to add ponies to your celebration of caring for the mental health of active duty military, and Patient Safety Specialist Debra Kirtley for reaching out to us to make it happen. As a bonus our “Hooves on the Ground,” participants that include veterans and first responders volunteered to be the horse handlers for the day. The barn was alive this week as volunteers made their way back to The Right Path for conditioning the horses (that is ongoing through the off-season, but extra exciting this week) and Mock classes. This “Thank You Thursday” has been brought to us by Trigger and his happy dance🌟 This week Trigger was graciously purchased and retired to his forever home with Rick and Delene Coleman. For so many of our participants Trigger was not just their favorite horse (as fellow Palamino lovers can sympathize), he was the only horse for them. He was donated in 2016 and is 23 years old. We are so grateful for the 8 years of participants lives touched and changed for the better as they reached for their highest potential with the help of this loving horse.
