Baron is officially on his way to becoming a Mobility Service Dog for my husband, Andrew, who is medically retiring after 15 years of service in the Army. Baron passed his assessment with flying colors at Michigan Dog Training and has now begun his training there. He will soon be ready to assist Andrew in this next chapter of his life. We are very excited about the journey ahead! -Revée

Meet TPL Game On, AKA Jenga, our next future momma and third generation TPL. From our original lines, her great grandparents are Kimber (retired) & Tank, and her grandparents are Oakley (retired) & Sully (retired). She is out of our own Piper and BSL Bronx.
Jenga has that bubbly, fun-loving, exuberant personality for which Labrador Retrievers are known. She loves everyone, and is that velcro dog that makes getting good photos a challenge. If I move, she moves, and is never more than 3 feet from my side, totally focused on my next move.
Be watching for the announcement of her first litter that is due on December 30!
Know Better Dog Trading is another team of great dog trainers that we would recommend. They came highly recommended by one of our families, Pamela Mirakian Tomaszewski , who had her TPL baby, Yassou, trained by them. KBDT has come along side of Pam twice now when she has suffered serious injuries requiring hospitalization and lengthy rehab. Yassou is now that great dog!

I'm 💯% sure Dug is a Labrador Retriever mix! This behavior is every single one of our dogs that live with us here in Dryden and Clarksville, especially Jenga and Rip, lol. If it's your TPL puppy as well, you have our empathy. No apology...No sympathy... Just empathy, lol.

Puppy updates from Sutton Labrador Retrievers. The puppies are nursing well on their foster moms, with nice round bellies to show for all of the good mama milk they are getting.

Today, our sweet little lady Liberty, from the TPL Red, White, and Blue litter, was scooped up into the loving arms of her new mama, Samantha. There is no doubt in my mind that this little girl is going to be well loved and cared for, and maybe just a bit pampered and spoiled. Her new name is going to be Luna. Congratulations, Johnson family! Welcome to our Tall Pine family!

We would like to officially introduce the newest member of the Henry Ford Health System's therapy dog team, Caya, formerly known as Cayenne from the TPL Spice It Up litter! Cayenne was introduced to the director, Keith Fishman, who asked, "How is it possible that this she hasn't been chosen by a family? She's a wonderful dog!"
We have asked the very same thing on several occasions, when she was passed up by families who decided to get a younger puppy. But as we often say, "It's a God thing, and He never makes mistakes!"
Caya's calm, attentive, and gentle demeanor is exactly what Keith looks for in future therapy dogs. Much of that calm can be attributed to the Early Neurological Stimulation that we provide to each one of our puppies, https://tallpinelabradors.com/health-testing/. When Keith attempted to startle Caya with loud noises, or tugged on her ears and paws as children are likely to do, she responded with curiosity and tolerance. Her favorite place to be is snuggled up against a person's side for an ear, head, and neck massage, then to flop over for a belly rub.
We are so excited for Caya, who is going to live her best life with a Henry Ford team member host family. She will have the dream job of visiting all of the people at the HF hospital in downtown Detroit, providing much needed support and puppy love on a daily basis. Today, she begins her training, learning basic obedience, and that will be followed by specialized training for her to begin working in the hospital. As she progresses, we will be happily sharing updates from Keith.
Congratulations to Keith and his amazing team of trainers and handlers! We look forward to partnering with you, and watching the wonderful doors you will/have opened for Caya. Welcome to our Tall Pine family!

Toby injured his leg over the long weekend. Today we made a trip to the vet's office to get it checked out. In typical dog fashion he started walking on it at the vets office. 🤦♀️ After an exam, x-rays, and of course treats... They said he's fine and it's probably just a sprain. I'm grateful it's not anything more serious. He got all the attention at the vet and everyone was asking where I bought him. 😉

The TPL Summer Fun litter all received a clean bill of health from Dr. Collins at their first vet visit on 8/5. One of our favorite helpers, Miss Raelynn, came along to entertain the puppies. After returning from the vet, they all got time outside in their pen to explore the wonder of playing in the dirt and grass. The family with first pick from the black males came out. Hot Dog (green & turquoise collar) won their hearts!

Does it get any better than a bunch of adorable puppies? We don't think so. 🐾
Welcome to Tall Pine Labradors LLC. TPL is located in the lovely horse country of Dryden, MI just a few miles away from I-69, as well as the booming military town of Clarksville, TN several miles south of I-24.
Tall Pine Labradors LLC is lovingly owned by Ann Morris and Revee Kraszewski. We are a mother and daughter duo whose love Labrador Retrievers brought us to strive to improve the breed. Breeding high quality Labrador Retrievers is of great importance to us after we watched two of our beloved Labs suffer from preventable hereditary diseases as well as severe hip dysplasia.
We started our love of Labs with a chocolate male named Toby. He was arguably one of the best dogs we’ve ever owned. He suffered from severe hip dysplasia that started out when he was just seven months old. When he was eleven he started to suffer from Degenerative Myelopathy, and that ultimately ended his life. DM a progressive disease, meaning that dogs get slowly weaker and weaker over a four to six month period of time following diagnosis. Degenerative myelopathy usually affects the hind legs first, but muscle weakness can spread to the front legs as well. Dogs with degenerative myelopathy may begin to stumble frequently as they become progressively weaker due to nerve damage. Eventually, dogs with degenerative myelopathy will lose control of their bladder and bowels. As the disease moves into its final stages, symptoms of weakness, trembling and stumbling will begin to affect the front legs as well. Toby is one of the main reasons that we are so committed to health testing each and every dog before they are bred.
After Toby passed away we contacted a local breeder and purchased a beautiful imported chocolate lab that she told us was not up to her breeding standards. What she failed to mention was that Uno suffered from Progressive Retinal Atrophy. PRA a general term for the group of diseases causing degeneration of the retina, leading to loss of vision. The form of this disorder in Labradors is prcd (Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration). The first presentation is the loss of night vision that progresses to complete blindness of the dog. The typical onset for this is between age 3 and 5 years of age. Uno eventually became blind in both eyes, and then she became deaf as well. She also suffered from DM from 11 years of age until her death at age 13 years. After having two dogs that suffered from easily preventable diseases we set out to find a great breeder and learn all that we could about preventing these things from happening again.
All of our breeding dogs are AKC registered Labrador Retrievers. Our dogs are selected for their conformation, temperament, athletic ability, trainability, and health. All of our dogs are health tested prior to breeding including OFA hips, elbows, and full panel testing for all genetic diseases. Our puppies come with multiple health guarantees that include hip, elbow, genetic, and eyes. They come current on all vaccinations and worming. TPL puppies begin their lives with Early Neurological Simulation from day 3-17. ENS was developed by the military order to give the dog a superior advantage. Its development utilized six exercises which were designed to stimulate the neurological system. Each workout involved handling puppies once each day. The five benefits that were observed are improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate), stronger heart beats, stronger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress, and a greater resistance to disease. Along with ENS, TPL puppies are well socialized with different sights, sounds, experiences, and interaction with other dogs as well as children. We believe strongly in using these tools to produce the very best dogs that will excel in all areas of their lives. Several of our dogs have developed talents in more than one area, so keep an eye out for news of their successes in the dock diving arena as well as hunting.
Although Ann has a lot of practical medical experience, because she is a nurse, we are by no means veterinarians. We may share our stories, and life experiences with our clients, but ALWAYS consult your vet when it comes to the health of your animals.
