Y’all - this is what makes this job worth it. This puppy came in seizing and while we didn’t know why, the whole team came together immediately to help get her stabilized so we had time to figure it out. Things seemed touch and go for much of the day, but into the evening she started to come around and by the next morning she was becoming responsive to her name and to noises. Things just kept getting better from there as she started eating on her own and moving around her cage and interacting with us. She went home yesterday to a very happy family. She’s not out of the woods yet - and truthfully we still don’t know why this happened - but we’re hopeful she’ll make a full recovery. And let me tell you - those first real puppy stretches and that first big puppy yawn and the first tentative steps she took? Yeah. That’s what makes this job worth it. That’s why we do what we do. #vetmedicine #veterinary #vetmed #vetmedlife #veterinarian #veterinarymedicine #dog #veterinarianlife #veterinarytechnician #vettech #vettech
Dr. N has quite the aquarium collection and this girl got into a fight with one of her tank mates. She ended up with a broken jaw and couldn’t eat. She brought her in and gave her a sedative and pain injection, then ran water from her tank through an IV line into her mouth and over her gills to keep her oxygenated. She built a small brace out of orthopedic wire and covered it with rubber tubing to protect her skin. When she took the brace off 8wks later, she was able to eat! She’s grown quite a bit since then and is living in a new tank with less argumentative friends. She’s since been named Dyson because she eats whatever food is in her path now.

Please excuse the baseball cap and t-shirt. I’m enjoying some time with my son and pooches outside but this was too exciting not to share.
Starting tomorrow the doors at the hospital will be open and you will be able to come inside for your pets’ appointment. There are 3 rules:
1) Please continue to wear a mask. With as close as we have to be to each other during exams, it’s the best way to keep us all healthy.
2) Please limit the number of people in the exam room to one person and one pet. Our rooms are small and overheat pretty quickly.
3) Please don’t come in if you’re sick. We are still offering curbside if you are feeling not well or if you prefer to continue to social distance.
If you need curbside service, continue doing what you’ve been doing - call us when you get there and we’ll gladly help you. Otherwise, mask up, leash your dog and crate your cat, and come on in.
We’ll see you real soon!
