Attention Rescues and Non-Profits!

After setting up our map, we have decided to open more rescue booths at the Dublin Pet Fair. This event draws many pet lovers and we would like to see more adoptable pets have an opportunity at being adopted.

The fee for non-profits is $50, and we can help rescues fund raise this fee if needed. For more information, email [email protected]

The Humane Society of Morrow County and Rascal Charities, Inc. will be conducting a high volume cat clinic at Hidden Lakes in Morrow County with services provided by the Rascal Unit. The total number of community cats is unknown but estimated to be over 70. A high-volume targeted approach is the best way to help control cat overpopulation.

We are helping the HSofMC raised funds for The Community Cat Impact in Hidden Lakes to help cover the cost of this project. At the time of this posting they are $4,000 away from their goal. You can donate directly to the Humane Society in person, via check to PO Box 298 Mt Gilead, OH 43338 or search for them on Venmo or PayPal under 'Morrow County Humane Society'.

The HOPE clinics are brought to the community by the collaboration between Central Ohio Pit Savers and the Rascal Unit. These clinics are walk-in vaccine, wellness, and microchip clinics and they are well attended, and the staff and volunteers appreciate everyone's patience as we take care of every patient.

Trumbull County OH and Mercer County PA residents only - $20 cat clinic thanks to the Glen and Jean Harnett Charitable Foundation

The Rascal Unit will be offering a low-cost, cat-only clinic in Trumbull Co on August 5 and 6, 2024. This clinic is limited to Trumbull Co (OH) and Mercer Co (PA) residents only. If proof of residency is not available, the cats will not be able to have surgery on this day and the deposit will be forfeited.

The $20 non-refundable deposit per cat is due at the time of registration, and it will include surgery, FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations, and flea treatment. Additional Rascal Unit services will be available at regular costs. For a list of services and pricing, visit www.rascalunit.com

We have hired two veterinarians to join our team, and we have a third veterinarian wanting to come aboard, which means we need to increase our support staff!

We are hiring registered veterinary technicians (start $22-24) and veterinary assistants (start $16-18) to join our team. Please email [email protected] if interested, and please share with anyone who may be a good fit for our team.

Working at the Rascal Unit is not easy, as we help many animals all over the state. Our hours are long, and we move non-stop. Key points about the position:
- Part-time (< 32 hours) and Full-time (32 or more hours) available
- Travel clinic days, including travel time, can be up to 12-14 hours long since we provide services to locations with a 1 ½ - 2 ½ hr travel time each way
- We provide high-volume, high-quality sterilization and vaccine clinics
- 50% paid health insurance for full-time employees
- 1-week PTO for new employees (after 90-day probationary period)
- Prior experience in HQHVSN preferred but not required
- We travel through the state on large trucks, so ability to drive is a bonus!
- We provide affordable and accessible care, which results in a higher capacity to offer assistance, which decreases compassion fatigue and burn out due to an inability to help most pets

Welcome Dr. Allison Middleton to Rascal!!!

Dr. Allison Middleton graduated from Kent State University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Zoology and then went onto The Ohio State University to obtain her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine which she received in 2024. She also completed a graduate certificate in shelter medicine in 2023 from the University of Florida. Her professional interests are public health, preventative medicine, HQHVSN, affordable wellness care and shelter medicine. She enjoys relaxing with her two greyhounds and cat in her free time!

Tuesday July 9th - Cats and rabbits only for spay/neuter and dog or cat dental
Monday July 15th - Dog, cat and rabbit spay/neuter

With their sponsorship and help from their volunteer crew, we were able to spay/neuter 44 pets at our June clinic!! We are proud & honored by our our partnership 🥰
