Dr. Beck had a really special experience at work today. After 20+ years of practice, today was the first time she has rechecked a kitten with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). Why? FIP is a serious viral disease, and until recently, there was no legal, effective treatment available in the US. FIP was considered 100% lethal, and FIP kittens faded quickly or were euthanized at the time of diagnosis to end their suffering. In 2024, a new drug became available to treat FIP. This has transformed FIP from certain heartbreak to a hopeful chance of full recovery. Amazing!

This is our friend Walker. He is a 9 month old kitten who was diagnosed with FIP in December. Today, we rechecked Walker after his first 6 weeks of FIP treatment and he is doing great at home! He has resumed eating well, playing with his brother, and running around the house. 💨 A huge high-five to his pet parents for taking such amazing care of Walker, and to for their professionalism and support, We are so happy and hopeful for a full recovery! 😻

This month's artist is Cynthia Bryden! Animals figure prominently in her work and she visits local and state fairs for inspiration. She works primarily from her own photography, and enjoys capturing the personality of her subjects in her paintings. Acrylics are her first choice of painting medium but she also enjoys working in watercolor, mixed media and drawing in pen and ink.

We received one of the nicest reviews from the owner of a 17-year-old maltese - his name is Jordan and he powered through a marathon dental cleaning with extractions and kept his quiet, sweet demeanor. And the next best thing - he came in for his last recheck wearing a full track suit (see photo 3, it's worth it!) Thank you so much for your review, and for trusting us with Jordan's care! 😍

Dingo came to visit us all bundled up for winter! ❄️🌨️🧥

We recommend limiting your pets exposure to the cold outdoors 🥶 to 10-15 minutes (less if they have short hair or are older or a puppy or seem uncomfortable) and getting them a coat if they’ll wear it (then they can be stylish like Dingo too!)
