To All Our Loyal Patients and Clients:

Unfortunately, unavoidable personal circumstances have pushed me into making some life altering decisions. On July 1st I had a difficult serious conversation with Dr. Bergfeld. Shortly thereafter with the rest of the staff about these personal circumstances. Sadly, the time has come when I must move on.

After 10 years as a member of this family, I did not come to this decision quickly nor lightly. I will truly miss all of those I have worked with so closely. Today I am letting everyone know Friday August 16th will be my last day as a full-time associate. I will be working part-time for a few weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

Thank you all for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Dr. Angie

The City of Dubuque is advising residents to take precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illness. Although anyone can suffer from heat-related illness at any time, the people at greatest risk include:
β€’ People aged 65 or older
β€’ Infants and young children
β€’ Overweight individuals
β€’ People performing manual labor or exercising outdoors
β€’ People with chronic health conditions, especially heart disease or high blood pressure, or those who take certain medications, such as for depression, insomnia, or poor circulation.

To protect your health when temperatures and humidity are high, remember to keep cool and use common sense. The following tips are important:
β€’ Use a buddy system: Check on your neighbors, friends, and relatives. Watch others for heat-induced illness because some people may not realize they are suffering heat-related illnesses and can become confused or lose consciousness.
β€’ NEVER leave people or pets alone in a closed car/automobile.
β€’ Increase fluid intake, regardless of your activity level. The best way to tell you are well hydrated is if your urine is light yellow. If it gets dark, rehydrate by drinking water immediately.
β€’ If experiencing excessive sweating, especially over several hours, replace salt and minerals by eating foods like bananas and salty crackers, or drink rehydrating beverages that contain salts, such as sports drinks and special rehydration fluids.
β€’ Choose lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and wear sunscreen.
β€’ Wear hats that shade your face, such as sun hats, visors, etc.
β€’ Keep in the shade or air-conditioned areas as much as possible.
β€’ Work slowly if you are not used to working or exercising in the heat and humidity. Stop immediately if you get dizzy, nauseated, or feel weak. Go into an air-conditioned space and drink cool liquids.
β€’ Check on outdoor pets to make sure they have plenty of water and do not leave unattended pets in vehicles.
