Hello Friends!!!

Just a little light housekeeping for you...

1. Did you know that more animals go missing on the 4th of July than any other day??? Make sure that your pet is somewhere safe while you're enjoying the fireworks!

2. The clinic will be closed next week, the 10th - 16th, as Dr. Tammy will be out of town. We will re-open on the 17th bright and early!

Happy Monday Friends!!!

Just a quick note to let you know that we are opening up our feral appointments on April 1st this year.

Cost is: $75/per cat.

Feral cats MUST come in to us in live traps (no kennels, cages, etc), and will get altered, a rabies vaccine and will be ear tipped.

If you can touch the cat and it's relatively friendly, it is NOT feral and can come in the normal way. I've included a little demographic that explains the difference between stray/outdoor/barn cats and true feral cats.

Opening to ferals is my true first sign of spring!

We're hearing that some of you are having a hard time reaching us and we just wanted to let you know that it's simply because we're too popular....

Our answering machine holds about 90 minutes of messages...once it reaches it's limit, it automatically shuts off and tells you all that we don't have voicemail set up.

I promise that we do have voicemail...but we get, like...A LOT of calls....so if you get the message saying we don't have voicemail, try sending us an email at: [email protected] We're allowed to have a zillion messages there!

Happy Monday Friends!!

Just a quick little notice that effective immediately, if you don't have your rabies certificate with you at check in (in either paper form, or on your phone), your pet will automatically get a rabies at the time of surgery.

Unfortunately, we've been getting too many people coming in saying they have rabies current, and then we find out later that they don't, or they're expired.

Can you believe we're only 11 days away from Christmas??? I swear it was just June yesterday.

Just a reminder that the clinic will be closed from December 22 - January 2nd. We will return to normal business hours at 8am on January 3rd, 2024.

During our time off, emails and phone messages will not be returned, but we will get back to you as soon as we come back.

There are a lot of concerns surrounding a national upper respiratory disease affecting dogs across the country.

While the exact nature of the illness is still under investigation, there are some common symptoms that have been observed in affected dogs around the US. It's important to note that these symptoms may vary, and not all dogs exhibit the same signs.

Please be on the lookout for:
Coughing and sneezing.
Difficulty breathing.
Vomiting or diarrhea.
Lethargy and/or lack of appetite.
Nasal discharge.
Fever.
Increased thirst/urination.

Upper respiratory infections can be transmitted at a dog park, a pet store, from a neighborhood dog, a daycare, the groom spa, the vet's office, or anywhere that dogs come in contact with one another. If your dog is showing symptoms of any upper respiratory illness, please avoid all areas above until they are symptom-free for at least 30 days.

Twin Ports Spay/Neuter requests that ALL dogs be completely up to date on all vaccines including; rabies, distemper, Bordetella and influenza. We are happy to update rabies, distemper and Bordetella at the time of your spay/neuter surgery, but unfortunately, you'll need to see your primary vet for a complete influenza series (two initial vaccines followed by a yearly booster).

We appreciate your understanding while we navigate this new illness.

Happy Wednesday friends!!!

Just a little reminder...I know it's frustrating when you call us and we're not able to answer the phone at that moment...it's usually because of one of three reasons:

1. I could be away from the desk helping in the back with surgery patients. I am the front desk girl, but I'm also a CVT who has worked pretty much every position here (with the exception of doing Dr. Schillings job!), so if someone is out sick I may be filling in. Likewise, I sometimes get called to help with IV catheters or placing ET tubes.

2. If you've been here, you've seen how close the front is to the dog room...and sometimes those guys like to sing me a lullaby of the songs of their people while they're here...so I physically am unable to hear you on your end of the phone.

3. It's after hours. Normally we're here from 7am - 3pm, but sometimes if we have a light day (ha! what is that??), we may be done a bit early.

So what can I do to help you get a reply faster? Email! Email is the single most fastest way to get a reply. I don't have to be able to hear to email, and I can fire off an email in between patients much faster than a phone call.

We love being able to help you get your animals spayed and neutered, and we appreciate all the patience yall show us!!

Yay!! Our phones and internet are back!

In other chaos related news, for people who have appointments scheduled this week:

We wanted to let you know that there is a water main that is going to be replaced in front of the clinic 9/6-9/15. The City of Duluth tells us that it "probably" won't affect our water, but we wanted to let you know the situation in case it does affect our water.

If we don't have water, we will need to reschedule appointments, and hopefully we'll know before you arrive for your appointment, but as with most things, we may not know until after we arrive or once we've started our day.

Just be aware that if we end up not having water, we will need to send the animals home and reschedule, but let's all hope that it doesn't come to that.

We appreciate your patience in this matter...and I promise, no one is more frustrated that we weren't given more of a warning than we are.
