We are so proud of Jeena! As a part of our medical team, she recently passed her Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE), and now holds the title of Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). A phenomenal training and desensitization success story! 💙 Staff pet Ziggy Pop the Boston Terrier has NEVER liked needles. He would fight and struggle, which could injure him when necessary medical treatments or vaccines are administered. His mom, Ariel, is a member of our technician team, and she has worked tirelessly to teach him that needles and treatments really aren’t so scary. Today, Ziggy had his blood drawn for lab work without any restraint, and - like he’s been taught - he raised his chin upward and stayed very still for the whole thing. A perfect gentleman. It was such a joy to see his lack of stress and fear over something that used to be so scary to him! We’re so proud of your progress, Zig! 💙

These two pups were sadly abandoned here in Duluth, and we'd like to help give them a chance at finding a new home. They don't understand why they were discarded like they were or what they did wrong. They're sweet as can be and both would like nothing more than to sit in your lap and give kisses or play in the yard with you. They're very "people-oriented". We will vaccinate and spay them for potential adopters! Their ages are estimates, as we know little about them except that they are desperate for a loving place to land. They do not need to be homed together. Spot is a medium-sized pup and Jumpy is on the smaller side. Help us save these two babies! ❤🐾

Help! FOUND DOG : This sweet older girl wandered along Buford Hwy and into our parking lot. She’s very friendly, not microchipped or collared but wearing an old harness. We know she would love to be back safe at home. Please call us at 770-476-3317 if you recognize her. 🐾

Avian influenza has been making recent headlines after a dozen feline deaths due to contaminated raw food. Since the outbreak began in dairy cattle last March, dozens of cats have been known to contract the virus - including barn and feral cats, indoor cats, and even big cats in zoos and in the wild. Cats appear to be particularly susceptible to severe illness, often resulting in death.

Infection : has generally been identified due to consuming unpasteurized milk or raw food. In some cases, it was due to hunting wild birds or exposure on affected farms.

Symptoms include : neurological signs (making it a concern for rabies risk), depression, nasal and eye discharge, respiratory symptoms.

To lower infection risks : cook meats prior to serving, prevent hunting of wild birds if possible, and sanitize any clothing, shoes, or equipment that is used in farming, especially with cattle.

Since the U.S. outbreak of avian influenza A (H5N1) in dairy cattle began in March 2024, dozens of cats are known to have contracted the virus, including barn and feral cats, indoor cats, and big cats in zoos and in the wild (e.g., mountain lions, tigers, leopards, and bobcats).
