We are proud to share we passed our AAHA Accreditation once again! This is the highest level of certification an animal hospital can achieve and means we voluntarily undergo continuous, rigorous testing to comply with the highest standards in our profession. This extensive testing is NOT required (unlike in human hospitals) and only around 15% of animals hospitals choose to do so. Our founder, Dr. Dickinson, started us on the path of accreditation 37 years ago, and through the years this has kept us on the cutting edge of medicine, surgery, and patient care. Congratulations to our team for another year of excellence! ❤️

Reminder, Duluth Animal Hospital will be closing at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 21st to allow staff to attend a memorial service. We will be available from 7am-12pm and will resume normal business hours on Wednesday.

We recently had the honor of celebrating the retirement of a precious lady very near and dear to our hearts. Many, many of you know Connie from her three decades as a part of the Duluth Animal Hospital family. She has been a smiling face greeting our clients at the door, a shoulder to cry on in the hardest moments, and a source of constant joy and laughter for as long as we can remember. She has always been known here for her compassion, her unique way with words, and her hilarious sense of humor. There are too many wonderful memories to count, starting all the way back in the early 1990s when she was hired by Dr. Dickinson himself. She has formed relationships and friendships with so many of you and your pets over the years. We will miss her sweet presence more than words can express, but we are so grateful for the time spent together and so excited for her next chapter. Here’s to you, Connie, with much love and gratitude! 🌸

We are deeply saddened to share with you the passing of our beloved Duluth Animal Hospital founder, Dr. Robert Dickinson. "Dr. Bob" fulfilled a dream when he opened our doors back in 1979, the first veterinary hospital in the city of Duluth. He spent decades caring tirelessly for the dogs, cats, and small animals here, with top-notch technical skills in surgery and dentistry. He had a huge heart for the animals in his care, as well as their families. Many of our longtime clients remember his wonderful presence and several of our current and past staff had the honor of working with and learning from him over the years. He retired in 2010 to Oakwood, but has made sure to come visit us and bring his beloved schnauzers in his 1931 Ford Model A.

Dr. Dickinson will be honored in a memorial next week, and to allow staff the chance to attend and pay their respects to an exceptional founder and mentor, Duluth Animal Hospital will close at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 21st. We are happy to help facilitate medication and food pickups or pet care between 7:00 am and noon this day.
