It's Veterinary Technician Week! We all know it takes a special group of people to take care of little furry kitties and their families. It takes a team of compassionate, caring individuals that often miss lunch, come in early, stay late, stay up at night worrying about patients. Being a vet tech/vet assistant is a hard, emotionally, mentally and physically demanding job. But also so rewarding. Let's show our staff some love and let them know how much they are appreciated this week and every week! šŸ¦ŠšŸ˜»

This older (14 years!) community cat came in today for her wellness exam - updated vaccines, dewormed, applied heart/flea/tick prevention and had a good brush out to remove the mats.

Fortunately her caretaker agreed we should check some blood/urine tests which showed a bladder infection. Sheā€™s heading home this afternoon with antibiotics on board.

Feral and community cats need vet care too šŸ±

Back online!!

Good morning!

Quick announcement that the clinic has no telephone, no internet, no computers and limited power.

It appears to be the whole plaza, so could be construction at the corner hit something, but has us dead in the water for now.

We can still reply thru email/Televet-Otto by clinic cell phone!

As expected, there are a lot of questions and concerns based on yesterday's news.

This has not been an easy last few months, but Dr. Spencer is excited and appreciative of the opportunity to still be able to provide care to as many current and future kitties as possible. We could easily have been in the position of having to close and just be gone. But that is not what we wanted, and that wouldnā€™t be fair to all of the dedicated clients that have come to be part of our family. We are grateful to have found what we feel is the best solution to a hard situation and still be able to move forward, taking care of cats and their caretakers in the best way we know how.

What we do know:

1. The new location will be close to the existing Feline Wellness Center.

It will be less than 10 miles (15-18 minutes) from our current location. We will release the exact address and location soon!

2. We are not moving to Woodstock.

Community Cat Clinic does have a cat clinic already open, in Woodstock.

We will be part of a second, new clinic that is not yet open, owned and operated by the same group, in a different location.

3. Feline Wellness Center will continue to see clients through the end of 2023, and into early 2024.

4. We are working hard to maintain continuity of care and to make this transition as easy as possible for everyone. There may be a small window between our last day in Johnā€™s Creek and the opening day at the new clinic. We are trying to minimize this and understand your concern for your catā€™s care and working through solutions to this -

*Scheduling wellness/elective care with Feline Center until we close.

*Postponing wellness/ elective care until we are open at the new location (all records will be transferred and maintained at the new location)

*Scheduling with our parent clinic at Community Cat Clinic of Woodstock (they do not have your vet records- you will need to request them from Feline Wellness Center until we close, or from the new clinic once open)

*Scheduling with a new/different vet clinic of your choosing (you will need to request a copy of your records from Feline Wellness Center).

*As always, urgent and emergency appointments can be scheduled based on availability at Feline Center until we close, at a local Urgent Care Vet Clinic, or if needed, Emergency/ER Vet Clinic.

What we do not know (yet):

1. The exact last day of operations at Feline Wellness Center in Johnā€™s Creek.

2. The opening day of the new Community Cat Clinic.

Thank you again for your support and understanding, we will be providing more info as it is available. But for now, we are still open for business as usual! >^..^

Feline Wellness Center Updateā€¦

Itā€™s hard to believe that we are heading into Fall ā€“ time flies by fast.

Harder yet to believe that when Feline Wellness Center opened its doors in 2017, it was just Reina, myself, our love of cats and providing what we felt was the best care for all cats in our area.

Over the last 6 years we have grown, handpicking the right staff to complement our team, and continuing to offer basic wellness care, sick kitty care, surgery, hospice/palliative care, community cat care while also partnering with local cat rescues.

With growth comes change ā€“
.. Sometimes itā€™s planned, sometimes not.

Our plan had always been to grow, add staff, services, and hours to best provide cat-friendly veterinary care to the Johnā€™s Creek and surrounding area.

What we had not planned on was our lease ending without an option to renew or grow at our current location.

But as they say, when one door closes, another opens.
Sometimes when we least expect it.

Dr. Spencer has been working hard behind the scenes over the last several months to find a solution that meets everyoneā€™s needs. For lots of reasons, closing, moving, re-opening, and taking on the financial burden of another new clinic was just not an option, and we did not want to prematurely announce the end of our stay here until we had more information and a plan in place.

Well, I donā€™t know if you believe in serendipity, fate, good luck, or just the fact that people meet for a reason, but in exploring our options Dr. Spencer crossed paths with a like-minded group of cat lovers at Community Cat Clinic. They opened their first clinic in Woodstock earlier this year, and while they had not quite planned on expanding so quickly, our timelines worked out in such a way that it seems like it was meant to be!

Dr. Spencer has agreed to join the Community Cat Clinic team as they open a new state of the art, cat-only veterinary clinic close to our current location to help make the transition easier for staff and clients. We will continue to offer the same cat-friendly, compassionate care that you are accustomed to, just with a new name, new owner, new location, more hours, more staff, and expanded services!

Our goal is to keep as many of the same friendly faces that you are used to seeing along with some new ones.

We will be announcing more information as it becomes available.

So please be patient. Cindy will NOT have all the answers!

We understand that with this change, we may part ways with some of our patients, and we will miss you. Please know that we are happy to send your medical records to you or a veterinary clinic of your choice.

Please also plan accordingly regarding appointments and medication requests/refills while we navigate our transition ā€“ more details about a specific timeline are coming!!

In the meantime, please reach out with any scheduling/medication needs, and get to know our new friends at Community Cat Clinic (https://communitycatclinic.com/).

Above all, we are beyond grateful for our clients and their continued support!

Stay tuned for more information and details
about our transition and this exciting next adventure >^..^

Timely reminder - meet Misha! His owner noticed his vomiting and not feeling well - we try to look under the tongue of every cat! Poor Misha had chewed on a string that got wrapped around his tongue then lodged in his small intestine. Fortunately, the damage was minimal, Misha had emergency surgery last night, and is on his way home today. Not all kitties are so lucky :(

REPOSTING: As of July 21 Lily is in need of a new home, itā€™s been discovered that she would much rather be the only kitty in your life and doesnā€™t want to share her space with other cats

UPDATE: Sky, Lily, and Snow have allbeen adopted! šŸ’•

Hello! We have a client needing to re-home their three Maine C**n cats due to unforeseen circumstances. Snow and Lily are the parents to Sky, who we believe is deaf.

We will be screening potential adopters thoroughly to find the right fit for these beautiful cats.
