The 4th of July can be a stressful time for pets. If fireworks are common in your area, prepare in advance. Close windows and curtains to muffle the noise and dim the flashes. Turn on calming music or white noise to create a peaceful atmosphere. šŸŽ¶šŸŒ™ If your pet struggles with severe anxiety, ask us about calming aids or medications that can help. Need advice?

Meet Baxter!! He is one special guy as he has a condition called Addison’s disease (and adorable ears)! 🄰

Addison’s disease, also called hypoadrenocorticism is usually caused when the body doesn’t make steroids naturally and when it doesn’t make hormones needed to regulate electrolytes. There is another type of Addison’s disease where the body just lacks the ability to make steroids naturally (but it eventually usually turns into the second type where electrolytes are abnormal).

Patients with this condition can develop symptoms quickly and go into shock or even die if not diagnosed and treated quickly. Unfortunately treatment is lifelong but luckily, once treated, does very well with medical management. Poodles are the most common breed that develop this disease.

This disease is called the ā€œgreat pretenderā€ as it mimics all sorts of other illnesses. Symptoms can vary from patient to patient and include vomiting, diarrhea, collapse, lethargy, and weight loss plus some others.

Patients like Baxter with Addison’s disease need to take daily steroid oral medication and also need to come in approximately once a month for an injection of the hormone needed to regulate his electrolytes. We get to know these patients super well since they are such frequent visitors!

We love you (and your ears) Baxter! ā¤ļø

Happy two year anniversary to Dr. Madole!!

We love having Dr. Madole as part of our team. She is so passionate about helping patients and always strives to give her best to every patient.

She is passionate about client education and has bonded with so many clients and pets! She is a very commited professional and seems to always stay late to make all of her patients are cared for the best as possible. She goes above and beyond and commonly calls specialists and consults with experts about cases.

Thank you Dr. Madole for your commitment to your patients and for the excellent care you give. We appreciate you so much!! Thank you for always being willing to make a Taco Bell run for your coworkers too and for sharing your Taco Bell desserts! 🤪

In her free time Dr. Madole likes to spend time outdoors and does fishing, camping, hiking, biking etc. She also has a border collie named Otter too!

Thank you for being part of our team for the last two years!

Apparently ā€˜bon appĆ©tit’ isn’t meant literally!

Dr. Schuder saved the day and removed this bone from Chanti’s stomach today… luckily she is cute! This bone piece was too large to pass, too dangerous to induce vomiting (too pokey and could puncture her esophagus) and would not digest on its own. We wish you a speedy recovery Chanti!

It’s tongue out Tuesday and Lenny was enjoying his churu snack during his wound care appointment!

Despite his kinda grumpy face, he is a very sweet boy and not actually grumpy at all!

Please feel free to share any tongue pictures of your pets as they always make us laugh! šŸ‘…
